Just purchased a brand new 05 downhill comp.
Took it for a ride this morning at redhill.
I can tell you this is one sort downhill rig. The 6 way swinger and SPV setup is awesome. The bike handles really well in small drop fast sections and is unbelivable on drops. Did a couple of 5-6foot drops and it was like riding off a gutter on my old bike.
The suspension was really stable under brakes and stayed active at all times. I was able to take more speed into and out of corners as a result.
Carnt wait for the next ride.
hey buddy,
yeah i got my new 05 dh comp about a few months ago! and let me tell u it gets better .. wait till u have got ur rear shock set to how u realli like it! then its awsome fun! the bike makes everything easy .. lol yeah...... just watch your bolts and if they come loose then tighten them..... then if they come loose again then u might wanna take them out and locktite them. I ended up getting it brand new for $3900 pretty good price I think when the RRP is $4400
Do you guys have any setup tips for the front and rear suspension. Like what works for different sorts of terian and what doesnt. I know its a personal thing, but with so many different ajustements it would be good to have a starting point.
Thanks

I'm 75 kgs and running a 500lb spring on an ' 03 model.
I have my swinger set up thus:
One turn of preload on the spring.
High speed :1.75 turns out from all the way in.
Low speed :1.5 turns out.
Rebound :1.25 turns out.
Chamber : one turn in from all the way out.
100 psi in chamber.
This doesn't really use the SPV to its potential , but I like a squishy ride and I'm not much of a pedaller. I have found that small adjustments from these settings make a noticeable difference, especially on the rebound.
The best thing to do is read the manual for the Swinger. It's important to set up in the correct sequence.
Lucky you having the remote resevoir....makes adjustments a lot easier out on the trails !

Agreed, those hubs are a let down. Just relace them to some Hopes and you're set.

$150 if you loose a linkage bolt because you have to buy the whole linkage(say scam) they run a spark plug thread(say scam again), or $3 for locktight.

Yeah I agree just replace the hubs (because you be rich bastard) and give the crappy old ones to your poor underprivledged riding mate on the old bike!!!

Hey spyderman what do I look like a charity case.
Just bite the bullit and sell your ass on the cross a couple more times and you will be able to trade the AC1 for a new rig.

OK so I should have asked you for your impersonation of an ostrich? Head in the dirt?
And I like trees. They are good to hug! They don't nag!
