Hey guys,
I have recently bought a 2nd hand 03 blur frame and my objective was to just transfer everything over from my old bike to the new frame, this proved to be more difficult than it sounds. Here are some problems I encountered and just wanted to know whether anyone out there can help me out:

1. I have Avid Ball Bearing (Mechanical) Disc brakes (With a 6" rotor), they dont fit on the mount for disc brakes, is there an adapter you can buy to make them fit? If worse comes to worse I can always make one :D.

2. The headset off my old bike was intergrated, and I'm pretty sure the 03 blur frame takes non-intergrated. So I bought a non-intergrated headset and it all fitted EXCEPT the steerer tube on the fork didn't fit through the headset, I'm pretty sure the headset is 1/8.

3. The bike came with a bottom bracket still in it (Deore XT) but I use the ISIS system so therefore it wont it on my crank, fair enough so I decided to take it off, (I have the right tools and everything) but the thing is so tight! it just won't come lose? Has anyone got any good tips to get it off? I've heard that spraying a bit of RP7 around the sides can help, but any other ideas?

I think that's about it... lol. Anyway guys I need help quick cause I need to get this bike up and ready for racing asap. Thanks!

Limited knowledge warning....

1. Not sure
2. Measure the steerer tube with a set of verniers. Do the same to the headset.
3. Get a long handle for your ratchet. The longer the handle, the more leverage.

If in doubt, drop into your local bike shop and ask. They're generally helpful, especially if you are going to or have thrown some cash their way.

What was your old bike?

1. Yes, it should just be an IS 6inch hayes adaptor (or a shimano one, or an avid one, they are all the same dimensions) that you can buy from any shop
2. The blur uses a 1 1/8 headtube. It sounds like you have bought a 1inch headset, or the forks are 1.5 standard? What brand fork and headset was it?
3. The drive side cup is reversed threaded so goes opposite way. Other then that if it's seized take it to a good bike shop and let it be there problem :D

Yeah the forks are 2003 Rockshox Duke XC's (non u-turn). It's a pretty cheapo brand of headset i think, it only cost me $57, it's called "provanti". But tomorrow I'm going to go and take my forks + the new headset into the bike shop and see what's going on. Hopefully they'll exchange it for a new and better one, anyone got any suggestions. I've heard that Chris King's are supposed to be heaps good.

Ok everything is done, I transfered everything over. I had a few problems along the way though...
1. I bought a headset which the guy said was an 1/8" however it was only an 1" :(

2. I didn't put all the cabling in properly, this resulted in me just taking my bike over to the LBS and getting them to fix it, thus spending like $150 more than I expected!

But everything else is ok. I'll post some pictures later on in the week, will have a chance to test ride it this coming saturday if the rain holds off!!!
Thanks for all you people out there who helped me!
