ok heres the deal ,
i can get a 2004 kona stab primo without forks brand new form the Lbs for fairly cheap and i was thinking of buying it and putting some 8 inch boxxer teams on it ?
wat i was wonderig is wat are these bikes like for DH?
i wouldnt be riding up the hill so the pedaling up the hill doesnt matter that much ....
its a kona though
would this be suitable for dh ?

I had an 02 Stab Primo with limited edition red ti-nitride boxxers (a teaser while I waited for my V10 to turn up!!) and it was a good, solid bike and is still going despite getting a major hammering from the new owner. The bottom bracket height's pretty crazy so the bike sat up a bit high for me, but other than that, it wasn't too bad; they do suffer a bit of brake lockout with no floating caliper, though.

I've got an 05 stab - Kona's frame is definitely more freeride oriented. the key is to make sure it's not oversprung in the rear. They're a super easy frame to get used to (I've found) and are pretty well bomb proof.
For better brake performance you could look at an aftermarket floating rear brake. Check out

Boxxers might be nice on the Kona too - a more supple ride.

The 04s are are little steep in the head angle with 888s, boxxers might be worse, more freeride geometry, but if you like a bike like that then coolies they're all good, only downside is the derailleur hanger is too strong so you destroy derailleurs instead :(
