Well, here it is, the bike I got built up to ride to the shops to get some milk... Do you think I went a little overboard? :)

I guess people are going to ask for a spec list, so...

- Foes DHS Mono medium, Curnutt shock, steel spring
- 04 Monster T
- SRAM XO Derailleur
- SRAM X9 Rocket Trigger shifter
- Hope Mono 6Ti Brakes, Goodridge lines, 205mm rotors front and rear
- XT Cassette
- Wipperman 909 chain
- Atomic Laboratories Trailpimp rims
- Atomic Laboratories Trailking pedals
- DT 14 Champion spokes
- WTB Pure-V Race seat
- DaBomb Dalux post
- Raceface Diabolus OS bar
- Raceface Diabolus OS stem
- Hope headset
- Maxxis Highroller tires, 2.5, slow reezay (insanely gripy)
- Raceface Diabolus cranks
- Raceface 40T chain ring
- Hadley hubs front and back
- Oury lock-on grips
- MRP LRP lower guide bit
- Custom chain guide plates manufactured by VicMTB

I think that's about it. I went for a few runs as soon as I got it, and what can I say, it's bloody nice...

I must say one thing about Shimano - it's crap. I mean really, brand spanking new, properly tuned XTR feels like something that should be on a Huffy compared to SRAM. It just doens't compare, not even in the same universe.

Oh yeah, to all you doubters about fitting the Hope 6's on a Monster - http://forums.farkin.net/images/icons/icon10.gif - it works fine.

It was purchased and assembled by the guys at VicMTB (http://www.vicmtb.com.au/). Highly recommended!

Well, that's all from me. I'm off riding again... :)

The wank/dream bike factor is rating pretty high at the moment. Its nice to see something other than 888's for a change. Sick build mate.

humble my ass.

nice work though, I don't think there's too many ways you could have spent more money on it. :D

just don't bump the XO on anything or you'll be singing a different tune about sram...

PS - where's the ti spring for the curnutt? shame...

just trash it damnit! hehehehe. btw why are you using monster t's? any particular reason why you didnt go with 888's, shivers, dorados, boxxers etc..... ?? it would look very sick with some fox 40s though ;).

I figure if you buy an off the floorer the you'll end up upgrading and spending even more cash than a custom build... Well, that's my theory and i'm sticking to it...http://forums.farkin.net/images/icons/icon10.gif

Thought about them all for a bit. Just love Monster T's for some reason.

There are so many good downhill forks out there, I guess you just have to choose what you like.

Just a little note, Foes F1-XTD forks weight about 9lbs with Ti springs, so a Monster isn't too much on top of that in weight, especially if the F1-XTD had steel springs.

Fox 40's would have been nice, but they're new, a bit too pricey, and haven't really proven themselves...

Mmmm nice, not necessarily my cup of tea but hey, it obviously floats your boat. At least you put a top level spec list on the bike, that takes guts (and a fat wallet)

Glad to see you like it so much, imagine spending that much coin and finding out you didn't like it.

Anyway, just go get it dirty...

No really true, more money could have been spent on pretty much every component...

Ti springs are only made upto 450lbs (for upto a 90kg rider). I'm abit over 90kgs so I had to go for a steel spring at 500lbs

Thats gonna be a sad sad day when you scratch that thing riding down to get the milk.
Can I suggest a pac rack, or maybe tie an old milk crate to the handlebars....

I was thinking a little white basket on the front... With some pink tassels hanging off the handle bar... And of course an air horn...

What is the BB Height and wheelbase?
The BB looks high in the pics, just curious....
Does it run a fair bit of sag as well?

Well if he really wanted to up the wank factor he could have gotten his hands on those really super dooper expensive limited edition forks that foes were making a year or two ago that they only made 2000 of. I wish I coudl find the mag they were in.

Anyway, what happened to them?

The Foes XTD? I had a ride on one in Hong Kong... PLUSHEST fork ive ever touched. In that same room where they were he had some Dorados, WC Boxxers, 888's etc and none even came close!

Yep, it really has been that long since I got this beasty built up and it's still going strong.

Although to be honest I haven't really been riding much over the past year due to too many injuries. But I'm starting to get the itch to jump back on.

My last logon date on Farkin was 22-01-2007. Eeeeek!

The bike has run flawlessly for all that time - even with a spastic, crash prone rider at the controls.

Time to lose the gut I think and start riding again. :)

Bombproof. I'd like to see you try to break it! :D
Thankyou so much for having the attention to detail a bike of this caliber should have, whatever the components you chose.
You cop a lot of flak from jealous types when you build up a top-level ride. People throw around terms like 'wank' (see posts above...) when it's quite clear, if they had the option to build a 'dream' bike, they'd actually do it.
I've done it.
It's pricey, but nothing feels quite that good ever again.
The VICMTB guys built many a bike for me back in the day, but the Intense Tazer we built up back in 2000 was the pinnacle... sweet memories.
Well done, fella!
