hey all,
here are a few pics of my new goose!
have a gander!
I changed out Truvativ bars, stem and cranks for my favs,
Thomson stem
Azonic DW bars with Lizard Skin lock-ons
some brand spankin' HONE cranks
And since these pics were taken X9 triggers and rear derallieur and High Roller 2.35's with a super tacky on the front

other bikes are a P3 I put together for a mate and my 99' Cannondale with just a few mods, infact, this is its third reincarnation

the bike handles pretty well, although,it is new,so I am ironing out the wrinkles still.
with the floating drivetrain setup the bike pedals really well, holding traction in areas,on both descents and climbs!,better than my old 'dale.
highly recommend anyone looking for a new ride to check out any DHX equipped bike, range of tunability is awesome even on the 3.0.
stance forks are good but best left in the 6" setting with fastest rebound(I weigh 67 and it is still to slow)
all in all an awesome rig for FR,drops well, climbs well and corners like its on rails
cost $3180 w/ truvativ cranks etc,$3500 w/new bars,stem and cranks
have a few $ worth of new bits to sell though

That 'Dale is cool, haven't seen one that old for a while, but damn, that's in great shape!

cheers,daver
I haven't really fallen off the Dale that much, and in the midst of building other bikes and swapping parts around, it spent the best part of a year hanging up with no brakes on it.
rebirth number 3 sees a lighter build with 317 rims w/XT hubs, Thomson post
and "low-normal" XT rear derailleur, also brakes came from another bike(which is now hanging up with no brakes OR wheels)

Sweet looking bike. That suspension linkage looks awfully complicated. Does it feel kind of weird having the BB move independantly of the rest of the frame?

Such an interesting design! I'm looking forward to having a go of one, oneday!

I'm also keen to hear the answer to ^^^^ above question by Oddjob.

I was going to get tech, but in short,no it does not feel weird.
In rough terrain the whole bike is moving around so much anyway,so it hard to notice
the bike is like a cross between an I-Drive and single pivot but the little link from bb to the chainstay isolates pedalling and braking forces from the suspension.have a sus of it,and remember, there is no pivot at the rear.

donthucktoflat;
the dale is 13.8kg, so average weight, and it rides quite light.
its built like a tank, but doesnt ride like one.Its a Cannondale!!
naz;
I will post the whole stable when my P3 is finished(pictured P3 is not mine)

the whole rear end has no pivot
the seat stays and chainstays are all one solid piece
so it feels really stiff in the rear end
which the floating bottom bracket and linkage connects to
seems to pedal real well and you can't notice the
floating bottom bracket at all
With the comparison to the GT i drive
Now that GT and Mongoose are under the same roof
pacific brands
the same designer of the GT i drive frames
designed the mongoose freedrive frame

Is there meant to be a question mark in there somewhere?

DGLee,

But is the frame any good ?

DGLee
10-03-2005, 10:23 PM
Yes,the frame does feel good.
Besides it working really well in an up and down manner, having two pivots one above the other-it feels really stiff, landing at 30° it didnt squirm and solid power-strokes only send you forward.
Cornering at high speed is pure joy,no fretting, just lean and go.
