niiiice. i really need to give mine a polish. it's raw metal and really dull atm.
but i need to strip it down to do it properly, and i can't really be bothered atm.

was it difficult to put the E13 on?

What a pile of crap.
I love you too Greg :)

Shaun: No not really It took me a bit over an hour with a bench grinder and a drill press, if I had the right tools it would have been alot easier, then i had to space the guide away from the tyre and stuff so there was a fair bit of playing around with washers but it wasnt actually that hard in the end

spooky: Weighed in at a tiny bit under 47 pounds the other day with the fox and MRP

Mtb dirt: heavier than a boxxer a tiny bit lighter than a 888 best forks ever worth the extra weight over the world cups I had for sure ;)

Wow, i've never seen an e13 been run like that, looks trick. Oh, and if your running a backwards highroller up front then i'd would bother to get it back to normal, cuz the results are nasty....

Nah its a minion and im going to go do it now yea I can notice it has less traction backwards who knows matt you might have got sub 7 if it was on the right way... my bad :o

Makes me want a Balfa. Interesting spec (front brake?) but hey, it feels sweet and it looks schmick. When are you coming racing?

lotec

Soon ;) I like the brakes a lot, very under rated sure they're not for everyone but I love em (or it  )

nice bike mate!

but a matching black mag30 for the front would finish it off nicely.

oh, and 4-bar linkage rear ends certainly appreciate platform damping, but does the 5th make much difference on the balfa?

Ill get one when i break the front rim maybe, its just extra weight and i dont tend to thrash front rims as much...
the Balfa pedals awesomely with the vanilla rc, probably the best of any downhill bikes with this much travel running a 5th and a lot better than bikes with alot less travel too, bottem line it doesnt really need it but the bike feels a lot different with it, sorta like the rear end isnt moving but you dont feel any of the bumps if you know what i mean... just a more stable ride, i definatly like it better but I dont mind the fox either... I didnt really get the 5th to make it pedal beter though, I just like the feal of them and slightly better pedalling comes with it too ;)

Show us the marked/fucked Dorado staunchion that you ran with bad bushing, and the sick XT pin, if you havn't change it already.

get a rear rim to match the front one :P

lotec
27-02-2005, 04:37 PM
I didnt run it with a bad bushing, the old owner did and the sick xt pin is a cheap 2.5mm allen key bent over and snapped off with my hand that works fine so why bother getting a new pin

edit: its also not "fucked" as you put it seing as its not deep enough for any of the grease I put in to leak out , I strip them down and service them every weekend cause Im extremly picky with my bikes and like tehm running as best they can and I have never found any dirt or anything in them, you cant feel it when you're riding and there is no oil in that leg so they cant leak... why fork out for a new stanchion?

Cool bike. It has that well used but loved look to it.

As for the navigators... Good to see other people willing to ignore brand snobbery and go for function over form. Just be careful fitting one on the rear with an 203mm rotor. It might turn into insta-lock.

I haven't tried it yet. But I am going to look into getting my stansions re-coated. See those ads in Car mags for teflon coating on aluminium for pistons? Reckon it might work sweet on your lowers there lotec ;)

man,what a great bike!
im interested to know why you have such an exspensive bike with a rad kit and then you shy away from a $10 part?
at worst why not try a split pin from your local bearing guy?
it'll cost about $1.20
still one of the sweetest rigs ive seen though!!

28-02-2005, 05:22 PM
Cause I really dont need it... the allen key works jsut fine but if it makes you guys happy I ordered one ages ago, it jsut never came in and I havn't chased it up ;) any yea gred, Ive thought of that teflon coating and I know a good place to get it done... considering it actually... :D

man, if it goes, then awsome, why waste money you dont have to? even if it is a couple of bucks, i say that a crazy bush mechanics job, just keep the homebrand fixes to a minimal because the more you do the bigger and worse effect it has on the bike, but i wouldn't know
