Hey d-rudie,

Are you running 8 inch travel on the back? Where did you get the fox to suit from? I want to do the same when I get my ATX up and running :)

hey champ

yeah its 8inch on the back. its a 222mm vanilla rc... got it brand new off ebay for only 330 bucks :) anywho, i had to cut the mounting tab off the frame, and drill a new hole for the shock to fit; squeezes in very nicely. will take a closer pic if your interested.

Wow, a 222 really fits?!?!

I measured mine up and didn't think it would make it. Did you have any trouble with the lower arm hitting on the chain device? I thought you had to go for the 215mm version. If it isn't too much trouble, a close up of the lower shock mount, and also of pivot of the lower chain device would be absolutely tops!

That would also give you more than 8 inches of travel wouldn't it?

Cheers

hey fellas. sorry i forgot to take a pic of the lower half of the guide; will have to add that one later. anyhow, here is the mounting for the vanilla. simply removed the mounting arch at the bottom and drilled a new hole. all in all, it roughly lowered the mounting hole about an inch. rides really really nice now :)
but nah its 8 inch travel.. the frame cant support any further travel without grinding away parts of either the swing arm or the bottom bracket; but personaly, i think 8 is plenty on the rear :)

enjoy :)

thanks for the pics. i reckon il hafta source one of the fox vanilla's for my bike now. what travel are you running on the front? 7in? does the longer travel back end affect the handling much?

yeah its 7in on the front now. only just did a 7" conversion in the last few days so the top pic of the whole bike doesnt show it. rides so nice now :) i cant tell any difference in the handling now with the shock except to say that is just so much smoother than it was. so really, i guess its easier if anything cause the back wheel is on the ground the whole time rather than bouncing around like it was before.

no worries champ :)

yeah the cat loves to help out; he brings me tools whenever i ask ;)

hey champ..

i actually didnt know that was a seperate bit :p anyways, to move it along, you just undo the allen bolt in it and it will allow you to spin it around to where you want it. though if you dont have the part which you circled, then you wont really be able to do that :p the part is simply a solid peice of metal coated by a couple of rounds of electrical tape to prevent any damage. so if you just have the surround peice of metal, you may be able to drill and hole and chuck a nut and bolt through instead. good luck :)
