umm i got is second hand the dude who sold it to me was almost cryin umm its got :staintune pipe umm lager header renthal bars i am not sure but i think that it has titanim valves it has just about every thing i am gonna get some coloured chains and sprokets but yeh thats off thy top of my head

You are a complete fuck. I guarentee most of us on here do MTB's as a choice over Motos. I have a moto, i spend weeks of the year riding them - they're hella fun, but it's still no MTB. And trying to say how only people with "a fked up idea" would do mountainbiking is an incredibly bad idea on an australian mountain biking website.

Mate, I've worked in the motorcycle industry for years, and people like you are the reason I got out. Narrow minded ignorant fools made the dirtbike crowd worse than the harley people to deal with.

It's no coincidence that the top 3 importers of motorcycle accessories are also MTB importers, and most people I know are forgetting their moto's and riding MTB more and more. I won't say one is better than the other, but it's far easier to go for a legal ride with minimal equipment hassles after work on a MTB.

Nah the KLXs seem pretty fun. Especially for bush trails, or longer trail riding trips. Just remember it won't hold up to big jumps if that's what you plan to do. And if you want to race, you'll need something quicker.

Now KLX bagging makes me go somethingsomething.
They are a great enduro bike with a few mods, can make a great grasstrack MX bike, don't cost much, are reliable as buggery and easy to ride. Good fun little bike, sure a little old now, but a long way ahead of their time when new.
I'll have you know that back when the Thumpernats had a pro 300cc class (ie under 300cc) , our dealer built KLX250/300s won every round of the season. We beat the Ballards XR280s (huge budget bikes), factory TTR yamaha's....We ran 2 bikes that season, one KLX250R (enduro model) with a 300 barrel, ohlins shock, braking front rotor, renthal bars, pro-circuit pipe, FCR carb and some racetech bits in the forks, and the second bike was a white steel tanked road/trail model, which was stock except for bars, exhaust and ohlins back shock which we ran for a couple of rounds. The only difference the road/trail version made was slightly reducing the winning margin.
Both with dunlop knobbies and road equipment removed of course...

I reckon a 360 kitted big bore/stroker KLX300 motor with good cams, exhaust and carb, maybe a couple of gears removed, and slotted into a recent KX250 would be a good grasstrack MX bike...

Also, don't discount the jolly green giant, the good old KLX650R... Sure, slow lumbering beast it appears to be stock, but with 20-odd KG of crap stripped off, some engine mods (WB cams,41mm FCR carb,carillo rod, forged wiseco piston, porting, pro-circuit 'zorst) ohlins shock and upgraded fork guts our race one was a weapon. It made about 70 horsepower. 3rd gear starts were necessary, even then if you got traction it would wheelstand, and if you didn't it would just spin up the back tyre....As you can imagine it was the holeshot king. It also ran 196kmh at Finke.

Ahh memories...I just have a fondness for the old KLXs.
