Looking good.
Alot of guys on ridemonkey are saying you have to use a 230mm rotor to make the m6 work with the DH40. Is that a 9inch rotor or did you figure out some way to mount it up?

whoa, nice one stacka... that's a nice rig for sure, those forks alone make it awesome, but it's a top build all round...
In other threads you wrote "Moorey, i have something to show you etc", then i saw winks and all sorts of things. You werent joking. That shit is awesome. ;)
So you got it through Petri eh. Ill look out for it at Buller!
stacka
17-03-2005, 10:17 AM
yeah im running a 9in front rotor. the only reason im running a 6 on the front is that the fox 40 adapters would only take the 6 piston hope. i personally think the 9in is overkill, but i spose it blings it up.
yes i have been nipping at mooreys heels for a while. hes always been telling me i wont get a newie and will be stuck on the giant. so ive been stirring him up. yes petri did the bike and i owe him some serious sexual favours for this one!
this bike is the best thing ive ridden ever! and ive ridden some nice stuff (v10s, banshees, turners, intense, rmx's, etc). the bike doesnt suffer brake jack (something robbie mac got excited about!) and the thing pedals like a biatch! the 40s out of the box are the nicest thing ive ridden. shits all over tpc dorados.
thanks for the complements guys, more pics now up!

How did you get a 230mm/9" front rotor? Do Hope make them or did you have it custom made?
stacka
17-03-2005, 10:36 AM
Hope make the front 9in rotors. check it out in the pics, it comes with aluminium spider thingy that joins to the rotor to keep weight down. tis pretty schmick.

bloody nice. whats the frame come in at $?
Did a demo 8 get stripped to build this?
stacka
17-03-2005, 11:00 AM
good eye j5ive. yes a demo was stripped, hence the stout front hub, saddle, stem, post, etc. Most of the parts are my own custom spec however. The frame retails at around 3300. endo imports is the sole distributor. call petri from pushi to sort one out, ph.03964237469. He is the preverbial man!

like OMG my bike has been rested on that parking machine.... cough cough
[noob comment] thats a pretty sweet ride [/noob comment]
but serioulsy that does look pretty rad-i-cal but then you know that!, i like the simple/stealthy look, none of these orange rollers, weird coloured forks... just pure functionability... and a little bit of wank, 9inch rotors .... pfft jokeing :p
Nice rims.
oh nice bike too... how much does she weigh complete?

17-03-2005, 04:25 PM
I normaly refrain from spurting comments on how nice peoples bikes are, but my oath. That is one extremely fine piece of machinery. God damn. Very nice ride dude. In true pinkbike spirit, 10/10. Absolutly awesome. I envy you.

stacka
21-03-2005, 07:32 PM
thankls for the kind words guys, looks like i have a competitor now!!!
The bike rode sweet at eildon, however, it took a bit to bed in and fiddle with the forks to make them feel the way i want them. had a shite run at eildon with my poor sinister running down the hill off the track by itself with me in hot pursuit when a root emerged that i swear wasn't there in practice!
the forks are better than dorados and yes the 9 inch rotor is a wank!

At the risk of repeating what everyone has already said, very nicely put together. I'd say it's the nicest "Post your ride" in a while, to my mind anyway.
I'm sure you two will be very happy together.
Obligatory Grumble: 9 inch rotor, not my sort of thing but hey, you must have size issues ;)
stacka
23-03-2005, 08:20 AM
Seriously guys, the rotor was not my idea. Heres what happened;
I wanted a hope 4pot on the front with my 40s. Hope currently dont make adapters for 4pots to suit 40s, they do however make adapters to suit 6pots. However, the 6pot adapter only allows for a nine inch rotor! So you see, i HAD to run one.
thanks for the compliments guys, it rides as well as it looks! Hassle me for a spin at nerrina this weekend.

For your info stacka this was posted on ridemonkey
Here are two emails that I got lately..
Ian Jesson from Hope:
"To run the 6 pot brake you need the Fox 40 adaptor and a 225mm rotor."
Anders Johnson from Fox:
"The largest size rotor you can run on that fork is 205mm. Anything past this size will not be covered under warranty, the adaptor you need is a standard XC disc adaptor. The disc tabs come out further so there is no need for the oversized adaptor."
Obligatory Grumble: 9 inch rotor, not my sort of thing but hey, you must have size issues ;)
he's just compensating for something :)

stacka you never told us how much she weighed? do the ol bathroom scale trick.
chuckrockswell
23-03-2005, 11:00 AM
my R9 weighs in just under 20kg with 888's. pretty happy about that as it 'looks' like a heavy bike.
my plan is to change the saddle, seat post, handlebars and get a ti spring for the the rear shock, so that will shave some more weight again.
these bikes are absolute weapons. if you are fairly tall you'll absolutely love the ride, so roomy and comfortable. i couldn't believe how 'at home' i felt after just a few runs.
stacka
23-03-2005, 11:17 AM
i did tell the weight in the original post; 19.67 kgs weighed with proper hang scales at pushi. will be lighter soon though..................
Yeah its looking awsome. I think i saw you riding it at eildon if it was you with a troy lee helmet. It looks so good.

How's she go when you're downhilling dude? I'm gonna upgrade later in the year and the Sinister's definitely on my list. Want a race bike but not sure I want to go as much of a thoroughbred as an M3 or V10. Sinister seems like a good option...?

dude it is sick. definately one of the burlier race frames. i love it. good length, good pivot set up (the thing should brake jack........but it doesnt), and quite a bit cheaper as a frame than intense and cruz. check them out. if your ever down vic way, we'll hook up for a spin.

Sounds awesome. I dig the fact that it's a bit burlier... will be on my list of frames to check out later in the year.
Screwed my wrist today at Channel 10 tower. Went down like a sack of crap and won't be riding for a few weeks. Will hook up some time soon tho.
