Only changes still to make are possibly to fit Shimano 647 spd pedals.

For XC use I have a lighter wheelset running different tyres and a slightly longer stem. If you see some poor sod struggling uphill at the Mont 24 hour on a non xc hardtail, it may well be me.

I heard tilting it back makes it easy to wheelie ;)

Wee, makes me want my sputnik even more. Just need some wheels and I'm off!
I wretched at the sight of the paint/stickers though. They were the same as yours, I ripped the stickers off and stripped the paint then got it powder coated matt black.

Sweet ride.

The DaBomb stickers are a bit over the top, but I don't mind the Molotov one with the cocktail glass so much.

Personally I like the gloss black with red flames, it appealed to me more than the flat black, lightning or camo versions. Not everyone has a black bike with flames and a cowprint saddle. (of course there could be a reason for that...)

I guess there's a limit to how many orange couloured Kona Stinkys, silver and black Giant VT2's etc that you see before you wish that you had something that looked a little different. I'm already a freak as far as most of my friends are concerned, purely for wanting a hardtail. Getting a cow print Bel Air was just icing on the cake. (hell comfy saddle though!)

I'm not overly taken with the aesthetics of the LP composites bars, the black yellow weave really does clash with the rest of the bike. Black Answer Pro Tapers would look heaps better. The LP bars take a lot of the sting out of the trail, it's just a pity that they look so fugly. I'm not sure who vibraton damping pro tapers are.

While it's not ideal for anything really, for me it's a pretty good compromise. I can ride XC on it, even the Mont 24, I can downhill on it at Batemans Bay, I can go on epic back country rides climbing Mt Clear (why you'd want to...).

It's my "everything bike".

Some folks have 3 or 4 or even 5 bikes.

I just got my hunka hunka burning cow.

Nice looking bike, I'm thinking about getting one of the frames. How does it handle any problem that you have found with it??? I have pretty much the same parts on my bike at the moment and will just use them.

The frame is hell stiff. Anyone looking for a smooth ride, look elsewhere.

The LP composites bars and the Moots laidback post make a substantial difference to comfort.

This week I did two things,

Firstly, I got a pair of Shimano 647 SPD platform pedals and a pair of MT90 boots. For XC that makes a big difference.

The second thing was take the shermans off and fit tripleclamp Drop Off's from a mate's Stinky up front where the Shermans were. This will make it worse for dirt jumping and definitely worse for uphill but for smoothness in trail riding and for downhill playtime it should be much plusher.

It's certainly not a light frame by any ones estimation but I like it.

Yeah, I love my 'tov. Heavy but the geo is great for me.

You can try and find mine, but its camo so it blends in... :p

holy fuck, do u still have testicles with ur seat at that angle?

Went to my LBS last week and said that i might be doing the 24 hour race as a "lunatic pairs". Said I was contemplating changing the fork for something a bit lighter and with less height to make it better for endurance riding and what would they suggest. They only had one thing to suggest:

"Buy or borrow someone elses bike to ride." (with more xc geometry and pref dual suss)

Now where would be the challenge in that?

Now that I've installed the Drop Offs I might cut past and let them know I've fitted a fork anyway in order to make long rides more comfy and see what they say...

I won't lose mine in the scrub like you will Scott but if we have more bushfires in Canberra...

NOT, I repeat NOT used for dirt jumping. Some downhill (mild) some tame jumps and drops, and a fair bit of XC and trail riding. Not how low the seat is for DH (as displayed) I'd need testicles that hung really really low for the front of the seat to be an issue. (and then they'd hit my knees when I was pedalling, Ouch!)

Seat sits pretty much level. Nads seem fine thus far. (Hmm... maybe that's the cause of our fertility issues...)

SDG Bel Air is a hell comfy saddle.

Get on to Elvis at Dirtworks.

I'm pretty sure there's a leopard print Bel Air avaialble. New models have Zebra too but the cow is discontinued so get em while they still exist.

No way in hell a Molotov is flexy. Stiff as a board (and a thick board at that)
