i'm looking at getting rid of those torx rotor bolts which i strip theheads off everytime i try to remove them, so i'm looking to get some stainless steel or high tensile steel ones with allen heads

Are stainless steel bolts okay to use or high tensile steel ones better ?

if i go the stainless steel which grade of stainless steel should i get 304 or 316 ?

Go for hardened steel, the black-ish colour steel screws. They are stronger than SS, and have a higher surface hardness than SS too, you'd never strip them.

If you want to go stainless, I believe 304 has nearly twice the tensile strength of 316, so I would be going 304 in SS.

I doubt there is any real weight saving with stainless, just the rust-less factor, and the hardened steel doesnt rust too easy anyway so i'd stick with them personally.

For saving weight and still being "strong enough", there's also Ti, but more $$.
