Ouch.
Was that a really hard section of the track?
It looked a bit sandy too and I know that sometimes the camera can remove some of the steepness in the shot. They were all going really slow it looked like their lack of momentum which made them crash.
How did the pro's hit that section?

For the most part of the day it was fine, but come race runs it got really blown out and unpredictably sandy and before you knew it your front wheel was washed out. The pros just made it look simple as usual but many of the guys hit that section slower in their race run than their first practice run due to the condition of the track

I just watched it again and it looked like there were a few big rocks
laying in the powdery sand too.
