well, no-one else seems to have mentioned it so I will.

I had a bloody good time on sunday. it's the first time i've done 100k's in an organised event like that and thought it was well organised and would recommend it to anyone even remotely thinking about doing it next year.
i could hardly walk on monday, a testament to my lack of fitness and poor preparation which consisted of fortnightly rides punctuated by injury, sickness & bikeless holidays consuming way too much food & alcohol for the 3 months leading up to the event.
so don't think you wouldn't be able to do the 100k's off road, it's just a case of pacing yourself (the whole thing took me 7 hours & something minutes, i didn't get the rest of the time. details like that are insignificant when you're that buggered)

see you all next year!!

Yeah I thought the whole thing was awesome. Did the half (67 kms more like two thirds), and was also super unfit, mainly due to the fact that I broke my shoulder a month ago and couldn't ride for a month before the race.
Was sooo much fun though. Did the race on my Da Bomb Moab Bomb, so the uphills sucked, but all that rocky downhill stuff on the second stage was awesome! (made up so much ground here on the hill climbers!).
My mate broke his wrist just last Sunday, so he did the whole thing with his right arm in a cast too.
We all stayed Sunday night, hung out at the Settlers Inn and got well smashed (although not as smashed as the local fireys!).
Back next year for sure!

Yep had a great time,
Weather was perfect, bike worked well,
I did it mainly to see if i could make 100km and have fun at the same time
and I did it in 6:24 which amazed me i was going for 7-8 hours
Only one mechanical due to operator error but that was a not even 5mins
cant wait until next years event.
Kidneys were killing toward the end of the event,
So I got off and walked up some of the hills which were rideable which kinda helped.

I did the half (more like two thirds) thought it was good fun, even i really started gettin buggered towards the end. I'd only been doin bout 20km rides of late so didn't have great endurance, but was good motivation for the next eight hour, i'm pumped. Funny seeing everyone walkin those huge hills thought they were ridiculous and at that point started questioning y i was paying to take part. But the second stage downhill was good, saw a few blokes who'd fallen hard but great to see evry1 helpin em out. Hopin to do it next year :).

Just found out tat entries for the next eight hour r open. Get down there evry1 will b tops.

I'm by no means a XC groupie, but wasn't Rowney's time amazing?! I was discussing with the guys at work how a sub 5-hour 100km road ride is a decent effort.

By god, that guy must have been scary on the Pro XC circuit (Think: hand. arse. plate)

Sub 5 hour for road means that your average speed must be +20kmph. Either it's really hilly or the roadie (hopefully not you) is really lazy. Sub 4 hour would bring it up to 25kmph which is a reasonable pace. (Did the 152km Stage of the tour down under and averaged 27.9kmph without too much prep.)

C'mon did anyone else do the DW100?

Yeah, finished the full 100km (as presentations were going on!). Glad that I did - I was very close to bailing at the 2nd transition, but was convinced by the organisers and a couple of mates that I should keep going.

It was a long day, and not all the riding was brilliant, but fun was had.

I know the organisers, and have been chatting to them since, and they've already started thinking (including listening to feedback) about how to improve it for next year. But it was a pretty damn good first up effort! (That was the first mtb-only event they've ever done - they normally do multi-sport adventure races.)
