If it's not on private land that you have permission to build on (like, say, the council's land and you did it without asking first, aren't part of a recognised MTB association that has been given limited rights to construct appropriate tracks in the area etc) and there's any risk that others might use it and injure themselves then I expect you're fresh outta luck.

We live in a situation where if someone walks down the footpath, it's uneven and they trip and stuff their knee up requiring surgery or rehab, they can sue the council. Is it any suprise that they're wary about jumps where little kids could break their necks?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that having yor jump trashed is ok, it really blows but unless it's on private land and there's good access control to prevent casual users...

I guess you could approach an insurance company, find out what premiums they'd charge you to leave it public and constructed with the associated risk for injury liability and make a formal arrangement with the council that all damages claims should come to you. Then they might let you keep it built.

Yeh good point...but little kids wont go over it..thats the thing
The lips like 2 or 3 times the size of them its like 2.5m tall...theyd be too scared to go over it with a 1.5m gap too
so only people like 14/15/16 and above that actually know how to jump would go over it

You've built an 8 ft high jump on public land and you're wondering why folks think it might be dangerous?

yep well u probably should think before u do that. maybe u should look for like a spot of land that's not busy, and that the council doesn't care about. then chances are if u build it up enough and keep quiet about it, then they won't be bothered to clear it. good luk

mate no offence but your judge of distances seems a bit sus.
who builds 8 ft high jumps with 5 feet gaps???
anyway, consider this for the council when building"what you don't know can't hurt you" and then don't build in the open

What should you do?? Get used to it. Council destroy everything here, jumps, trails etc. Luckily they're building a legal trail now.
