hey guys,
im trying to make up my mind to either get a norco torrent '04 or a kona stinky '05... im about 173cm and i weigh roughly 70kgs. id probably do more street riding then off road. if anyone has any different bike suggestions please tell me :D
many thanks :)
Hardtail... more versatile, easier to maintain, and more fun.

I bought a sasquatch and 4 months later look at me, I've gone and bought an 8" travel frame for it. Hard tail was very nice to ride, and quite efficient, but nothing beats the luxury a dualie offers on the long cruise to school.

Personally, i'd just go duallie. Many people buy a hardtail, regret itand then get a duallie frame (like me). And you dont get as much of asore arse off-road on a duallie :o. Hardtails are fun on the downhill tracks to an extent, but you justcant beat the speed your able to flog with the extra rear bounce.

oooo kool thanks guys.
i was thinking torrent because i can get the second hand for cheap with a few mods onto it :D and it would suit wat im doing, but a dually would save my ankles on some rough trails lol, bleh need to toughen up :p
thanks agen for ur help
bleh need to toughen up :p Damn straight. Anyone that says "owe, my bum hurts" after riding is doing it very wrong.
It sounds like everyone that's reccomended a dualie in this thread has reccomended it for the wrong reasons.

i got a question to add onto mango's; how much more work is the dually on the streets??

depends how big your balls are!!! or how much money you have, maintanence wise the HT can be alot cheaper than the Duallie, the duallies great for Dh and more full on FR but the hardtail can be quiet fun on the technical stuff and good for cruzing round on and doing drop off trials style. But you will probably buy a duallie frame later on anyways. Why suffer for the sake of easier pedalling?

I had a Hardtail for a year and a half before I had a decent ride on a dually after that I was hooked now I've got both, a Norco Ryde and a Faith 3 ( I still can't stand Dirt Jumping on a dually) but I think a hardtail at first would be the option probably help your ridin skills alot if you go to a dually later too.

oooo i see, ill probably be better off on a hardtail then because im still a noob at the moment lol, and yer i dont hav a very big budget. :(
lol i just want a bike that will handle rough riding and the occasional drop off. Sounds like the torrent is the go eh?.
thanks agen :D

I ride a Kona, don't worry, I didn't take any offence as I was too busy laughing at your spelling. Seriously, just proof read or something... whatever works for you to get the spelling right.

OMGZOR!!!1!!!111 GT A DULLY, DEYZ R FULLY SIK LIEK CANNON KIK DA SHT OUTTA KNOA COS DEY BRAKE!!11!omg!!
get a hardtail.
you will learn to pick lines on a DH track, instead of just bashing into crap and letting the suspension do all the work. you will be a better rider for it.
plus, when you step up to a duallie you will have a HT kickin around for street/DJ work that you are familiar with! everyone wins!

gahhhh u guys are making duallies sounds so bad! lol ><
i really like the value and the looks of the kona stinky but as u guys say..it sounds weak :(
Oh and if Konas break, which part is most likely or more commenly broken?
Just want to know incase i do happen to get one, ill see wat i can do to it :)

hmmm first he says get a FS then he says get a HT
im pretty sure we all see his point in lettin the suspension do all the work!
so yer mang go torrent :P!!!
or if u like me dream a bit higher: Banshee Morphine :p *shivers*
manGo
16-04-2005, 10:37 PM
hahahahahaha yerr morphine *drools* it would be a very nice bike.
but i dont think im hardcore enough to break anything lol.
Id really like to get that torrent from this dude from this forum but he hasnt replied to my email or the PM i sent him :(
or if a hardtail is that much better, maybe i should travel all the way to sydney and get that second hand P3 if the owner of that torrent doesnt reply :p

yer but torrent could give u massive confidence bost to test the bike.....like me got a DBR RSX Comp....start testing it and i start breaking things....so u could end up like me
but then again torrent is strong....i reckon it would last you a year and a bit before you realy start thrashin it off drops and stuff
but still.....morphine *drool
hardtail. duallies are for people who cant ride and have to compensate.
Octane_Matty
16-04-2005, 11:15 PM
lmao!!! compensating......
so far mang its torrent.....or P3
anybody got any comments on a P3......i would say its nice....but looks a bit weak on the rear end.....does it have enough beef to handle some beatings?
mango will start some dirt jumping when he gets this bike so can these bikes handle some sketchy landings?

p.3s are one of the toughest hardtails out there, might not look allt hat strong but there havnt been that many of tehm broken in al the years they have been around and there are quite a few of them floating aroudn that have been thrashed for 5+ years and are still as tough as day 1...

How are we doing it very wrong? When i get tired of standing up i sit down (duh) = feeling every rock on the trail = bum sore-ness :o

Hah! yes! I had one of those bsx's aswell, stuffed the bottom bracketin the first 2-3 months of mild riding. But after a few upgrades it wasfine.
