newly built up bike...

first ride...mild pedal gash (damn i hate dmr's)

second ride...14 stitches later...major pedal gash!!

yeah man, ive learnt my lesson, i'm wearing shinnies from now on!

yeah im thinking about riding still, hospital told me i could, just if i have my shinnies on i don't want to make the stitches all moist with sweat.

i have hit pedals with shins and all but never got that out of it. hope it gets better.

yeah it was by far the mst narly gash i've had. was pullin off a 180 on flat ground and it was the first time i'd ever made one! so that was the only good thing about it! after i got the whole bike and body around i landed and slip...scrape..."oh shit"...stitches!

i can't wait to try it again!

pulling stitches out is heaps fun, it has the weirdest feeling, like something sliding under your skin... cooooool.

and naz, i think that was a little unneccesary!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, now THAT is a very good effort indeed. the worst i've done is just a bit of a shinin with a trikle of blood come out. hope it gets good and u can ride again!

shizer, that would hurt. i know it's been said about 50 times, but i'll say it again: shinnies are useful and i can guarnatee that they'll pay themselves off

dam pedals i had an accident last week when i didnt land a 6 to flat proper, my foot sliped off a pedal and it swung back into my leg and ripped me x2 for about 3cm and i'd say bout 5mm deep no stiches cept for my pants and a bit of bleech for the blood, brother i feel your pain

Those spiky arse pedals would suck or they good to ride on before you come off?

i feel your pain to my friend.. on one of my first rides my foot slipped after a drop and this was my result... took ages to heal but it wasnt that painful really.. put me out for a few weeks though

ouch... i just resently had my stitches from a pedal gash, but mine was about half as long as yours.

yer the first day i got my bike i tried to hop up a 4 stair and my pedal caught my shin and i had to get 10 stiches. At least it left a wicked scar

I did this near the start of this year and it still hasnt healed properly. I have worn shinnies ever since.

Yee-ouch!!!! This threads convinced me to wear me shinnies. Just got some minor tattooing on the shins so far, but nothing serious. Had my foot slip off the pedals just today, narrowly missing the back of my leg. Coulda been bad ... :eek:

Hahahahaha well I got my new bike about a year and a half ago (not so new now.)

First ride, fine, continue for ages, major pedal gash recently, christmas present, shinnies.
Amazingly, it seems in my couple of months off I have gained some skill in that I can now bunnyhop much better than I ever could before.

Anyway good luck in your recovery, don't let it get infected because that is an absolute bitch.

yeah thanks mate but this thread is now about 7 months old, the gash is well healed, but doesnt look terribly pretty!
