Don't you hate it when the powers that be take away free fun from the younger generation? Just imagine how many young dudes used those jumps instead of doing pointless antisocial type stuff!
Slightly OT but i remember when Sydney city council got rid of the basketball courts at Darling Harbour to make way for fuckin SegaWorld!!!
There is a need for free/cheap access for 'young people' to enjoy the sporty, healthy, outdoor activities they enjoy. Instead councils take them away because of fear of litigation or other such bollocks.
The only real answer is to use private property, maybe through some rider based collective.
BTW sorry to sound like an old fart. :)

I ride past those jumps all the time on my XC bike. Well done to who ever built them they where really nice. But today, only about an hour ago I went past and it was flat! I couldn't belive it.
I hope you guys build some even bigger and better and in an even more secret spot.

yes they are gone :)
i know what its like for jumps to be knocked down, its horrible to see your work go to waste. But the reason they are knocked down is due to liabilty. if you have been wathing all the forums closely you would have seen many cases of poeple suing council's when they are injured on locacl bike tracks. these losers sue the coucils for millions because of their own incompetence on bull crap charges. The council actually doesnt have much choice, because they cannt pay the charges, basically do not vent your anger on the council, vent it on fags who sue anyone for anything! oh and if you build jumps there again, maybe use concrete in them!

They went from nothing to do with liability suprisingly and concrete...never.
Might be about time to start actively trying to work WITH the council... because this is about, what, the 5th or 6th time not-quite-legal jumps have been dozed in that area? Sucks that they're gone, but reality is that the council has the power and we don't, so unless we (ie riders in general - I didn't help with those jumps) actually get permission and so forth, this is going to happen again... and again... and again... etc etc.

You've seen what happens when we work with Banyule council.
Booroondara do nothing and are really disorganised.
i'll second that...
Booroondara is the richest and most useless council in Victoria, you wouldn't belive how hard they make the simplest tasks.
i say go to the council office, don't bother with the reception. go straight to the car park and start letting air out of the tyres of any car parked in the reserved section... start with the most expensive ones.
