I heard they were great....... at cracking!!! (Yes I got this one right)

Make sure you have a look for cracks, they always tend to crack, not sure about 2004/5 but older years do crack......

Happy Shopping

the 03s crack, not sure about earlier than that though, or after that, but the 03s do.

i cracked mine, at the same time i snapped my older style marzocchi forks, obviously, i was quite pleased. not.

They don't always crack it depends on the rider, naz snapped his by wacking on 7 inch forks and doing stair hucks!
I personally wouldn't approve of it but its your call...

yea, but that wasnt the only reason nazs snapped.

wookie on here snapped his, and he was only running old z1s, which cant be more than like 130mm travel, i dont think

i was only running about 115mm travel, and mine cracked.

a mate of mine who was only running like between 80 or 130 (not sure if he had the frame when he had his new forks or not) cracked his.

and ive heard of a statistic somewhere that like 3 or 4 out of 5 of them snap or crack.

but i think the 04+ seem to be OK, and i havnt even heard of many, if any pre 03 ones snapping, but i could of just not heard of it personally, so the may.

but, they are alright frames, so if you want, i reckon you could send it to grip or something, and get some gusseting put under the headtube, and then it should be fine.

hmm, bing bong, is that a guy called tommy? just that my mate who cracked his 125, now has an iron horse sig, and i noticed your in sydney...

but it wasnt 05, he cracked his 03 125, then got an 04 250 on warrenty, which he has also cracked, and now has the iron horse, so it may be a diffrent person.

4/5 125's crack?!!? BS.

They're awesome bikes, so alot of people ride them hard. When things get abused, they break. Simple as that, buy one and if it snaps, take it to Grip.

Yeah, but when the equipment fails, its not nice. I've seen it happen and its not pretty. Normally in a crash you have a split second to brace for impact. But when something you rely on fails you dont stand much of a chance.

go for the P1

my brother's got a P2 and its really solid, especially for jumping. He even rode Thredbo with it in the hols and he's been riding it since and it still doesn't really need to be services yet. It shows how solid the frame and spec is, and the P1 is almost the same spec (apart from the singlespeed). :D

Yeah.. im pretty damn sure he's talking about tommy, but you can count that 250 snapping story out, as it had nothing to do with the manufacturing, he had to have his axle drilled out, and the person who did it made a mistake and it caused the frame to have to compress together to fit the axle in, putting stress where the seat stays join seat tube, which started cracking, he kept riding it for a while till he got the porter sig frame, but never snapped it though.

Ben.

No, its a design fault, they all crack/snap in the same spot, and they dont have to be abused for it to happen. They have no gusseting what so ever around the HT, and (speculation) are probably made with an inferior qualiy aluminium.
The earlier 125s are a completely different frame and have a good record.
Dont know about the later ones.
