View Full Version : Now this is a mountain bike
www.fxbikes.com
this is a very new prototype of the DESYNZ bike, apparently only 10 titanium frames will be made and 100 air craft grade cromo frames will be sold.
I would have thought they would have put a more powerful brake on this machine other than a avid juicy 7.
Your thoughts?
That looks awsome. as. I guesse they would be worth alot.
titanium version is $21,990 and the cromo version is 14,995 (15,590 with a 5th element)

why the christ would you put a platform shock on a motorbike
why the christ would you put a platform shock on a motorbike
Why would you put one on a DH bike?

i don't get it...how is "this" a mountain bike? it's a moto
Thats awesome , but would it be allowed to be used in racing? it wouldn't seem fair :(
Having said that it's sick :D
i agree with cornflake. you wouldn't really call it a mountain bike. still, it looks pretty sick. to bad about the price though, because if it was at a reasonable price i wouldn't mind having one.

so it doesnt bob when you pedal, but since this is a damn motorbike obviously your not going to be pedalling it so it doesnt need the platform, IMO that bike would go way better with an avvy....
so it doesnt bob when you pedal, but since this is a damn motorbike obviously your not going to be pedalling it so it doesnt need the platformA bike wouldn't squat under power, would it... and the originators of platform damping didn't require it to control squat under power in their vehicles either.
OMG it fits on your bike rack!!!!!!
seriously biggest waste of money ever.

man, all these chunky looking bike trying to be all dh and all. the other day i saw some porsche one, similar to that honda one, they both look like motos without an engin. Really i just think the desginer is in desperation for a breakthrough.

Platform valving was designed for motorsport. In particular desert racers so they wouldn't roll under cornering or dive under brakes or acceleration. It was adapted from there to mountain bikes.

Most people don't pedal those Baja trophy trucks/race buggies either... as Beena said, that's where platform damping came from.

hmmmm, i dont see a thing wrong with designers looking for a breakthrough. i think you are looking for the phrase "a quick buck"
and naz, since when did huffys make bikes with more than one linkage?
EDIT: why the hell are the main selling points: Ultralight
Portable
Agile
Fits On Your Bike Rack?
who would have thought to cross a dh bike with a motox bike? what does it achieve, what can it do taht a motox bike and dh bike cant? wtf?
its not a mtb, its a very bad moto in my opinion!

Could be a market over in Austria for these type's of um things!
Inbred Mtb!

Mate for $21000 you could have yourself a sick (off the shelf) DH bike AND a real moto AND have change left over to buy a proper 'sauced-up' 50.
What in the name of fuck are these people thinking?
Could be a market for these things in fucking crazyworld is more like it.

It's for the lazy and the rich money wasters!
instead i would spend 14,995 on a f#&king wicked mtb, a car or an 125cc mx

I'm not usually this blunt but...
what a heap of shit.
Cannondale tried the MTB/motocross crossover contraption years ago. I've got a photo of it here somewhere. It flopped badly.
A bit of basic market research into their target markets (read: us) could have told these people that maybe it's a bad idea...
"Fits in your bike rack": what, the one on my towbar with a maximum load capacity of 40kg? Or the roof racks? (should I be learning moto trials to load the car up?)
as Ryan said, go buy a stocko DH rig / half decent moto / Z50 or jump bike / gear for the lot and get change from your 21 grand.
I wish people would stop wasting time/energy/money/valuable finite earthly resources on things like this... and foldup scooters... and Britney Spears albums...

I'm having problems figuring out what this one would be called!!
p.s. sorry about the thread highjack!!! :)
Umm, it's NZ$9000 standard. If you paid the full retail price AND got the 125cc genuine race edition Honda engine AND the titanium frame and swingarm, then it would be about $21000-$23000. Yes, a waste of cash in my oppinion but then again, how often do we get told that our bikes are shocking wastes of money?
On the stable platform thing, baja buggies have up to 3' of suspension travel, I don't think that thing realy needs a stable platform shock with a measly 8".
P.S. "That" would be a Surly with a Rohloff, Drop bars and chin eating flat bar attatchment. A bit odd but no worse than all those old guys you see riding around with their drop bars upside down.

how often do we get told that our bikes are shocking wastes of money? yeah, but that's by non-bike punters. (durrrr, you could get a car for that... / radical dude, it's got shockies and discies!)
This is bike people calling a bike a waste of money. Bit different...
as for that poor bastardised Surly thing - the top stem should be attached to a set of moustache bars, cos that's where they'll end up being surgically implanted when he faceplants....
