I love gettin the apricot hill corner 1 right. sooo good....tricky coz if you have too much speed you overshoot it, not enough and you wont make it around the 2 bends, and initiate the drift too early or too late or too much to the left or right, and you will screw up. highspeed drifts are so much fun too!
PS.........YES i know some of you might see exactly the same post on inside line forum lol. i wanted to post it here too but couldnt be bothered re typing it. im so bored!

Nice laps!
Funny stuff, you need a life dude!!! LOL ;)
Thats some nice footage you've got there. You should be using NO driving aids at all, yeh i know its pretty hard but i believe its the Gee Ohh.
Kinda OT: I've currently been playing round on gt3 and getting my escudo to go over 1400kph while doing a wheelie, it's top stuff!
Good Effort!
reptile man..... i do have a life ;) what else are you ment to do on a sunday after a saturday night party having a BIG hangover? lol. and with a wheel its pretty easy to learnt to drift :)
I usually use no driving aids, but i dunno...had a bit of help then ;)

thats crazy, im gonna copy those settings onto my SLR mclaren and see if i can drive like that :D
hey lotec the slr mclaren is crap to drift....well when i tried it anyway a while ago, maybe it was coz i was crap then :) you can try. had a comment from this other dude sayin he got way too much understeer with the M3, its all personal technique i think. but just leave a 24 hour race goin on b-spec mode and then buy an m3 and another car with the leftover money that you win lol.

haha im not short of money, i have like 10 mil and dont know what to buy with it cause i already have all the cars i want, turns out im crap at drifting or maybe its the car but i did like 10 laps of apricot hill drifting then set the car up how i normally have it and beat the record by like 35 seconds :o

Nice work there Dan , I haven't tried any drifting yet , but it looks like a lot of fun .....and another challenge.....perfect drifting laps ! I reckon the SS Commodore will be a good drifting unit. Thanks for posting your settings for the BMW.
Would sports or road tyres on the rear be better to learn on ? They would have to be slipperier....

Give it a bit of toe out on the front it will turn in so much better
yeah i hadnt gotten around to settin up the toe. will probably do that tomorrow and see how it feels.
spinner.....why do you think the commy would be good for drift? :P its a big heavy piece of junk really :) nah it might do alright, but i just dont like commadores drifting.... lol. actually i got an SS and made all the suspension as soft as it would go, and the settings the opposite of what you would set your car up for drift. was quite funny, replays looked like someone was taking out there daddys commy for a slide :P
edit: speaking of stock commadores sliding, at the last practice drift day at mallala, mark (who drives a gold R33...the PPG one) had a mechanical problem, so he took out his stock brand new SS...only done 6000km. it was so funny to see! lol he wasnt doin badly considering how bad it was handling....afterall he is one of the top drifters anyway.

Haha , yeah , I just figured it has a nice gradual torque curve compared to a turbo'd car which would make it easier to control at the top end of the revs and the extra weight might make it more stable and less likely to spin out....?
There was some drift racing on Speedweek recently , at Mallala. There was a guy in a Commodore ute goin nuts ! Pretty cool to watch. Ive gotta admit , I'm more into V8's than rice power. You can't beat the sound of an 8. :D If only the V8's in GT sounded better with sports / race exhausts.
spot on with the torque curve idea there spinner. got a mental blank...but im pretty sure my m3 is NA...could be somethin else im thinkin of, but whatever it is it doesnt come on power suddenly which is good, its just way to hard to controll it when you got big lag then boost lol...take the HKS S15 for example....get stage 4 turbo for that and you got no hope without practice lol.
That drifting on tv was the drift australia round 2. www.driftaustralia.com.au the dude in the ute was Darren Appleton...usually robbie bolger drives it though.....that ute is capable of 1024hp at the wheels, but they usually run it at about 7 or 800hp or somethin. my mate james mardle competes in that comp in a white S13 silvia, he qualified 2nd but got knocked out in the first battle coz of gearbox problems

I am not a huge fan of drifting but a few years back at QRs Hightech shoot out they had a comp on and a guy driving a bog stock VN V8 won and it was some of the most impressive dirving I have seen. He was doing entire laps with non stop smoke coming off the tyres and pulling 360s down the straights at about a 150km/h -awsome.

....that ute is capable of 1024hp at the wheels,....
Holy crap !!! Thats impressive !
I tried out the Commodore last night and , well , it sucks at drifting (so does the driver :o ) I even gave it a run with very similar settings to the ones you posted above on the wet course and still had a lot of trouble throwing it into corners without it looping out straight away. The weight of the beast could be the problem!
I've been driving the BMW M3 GTR a lot lately using it in some of the endurance races and it sure is a sweet ride , only mildly tuned , it handles really nice. Laps of Nurburgring were "sheer driving pleasure". I'll give it a go with the drift settings tonight. I'm on a mission to nail this drifting thing !!
