Hey, I own a Trek 4300, and after 700 kms my bottom of the range shimano disc brakes need the pads replaced. I replaced them but they cost 56 bucks for a pair. Thats 112 bucks for a set. I didn't buy shimano pads but are they cheaper?

Dude!
There are lots of budget options nowadays.
Baradine pads are around the $20 a set.
A2Z are around the $30ish a set.
Fibrax I don't think are that expensive.
Have a look around next time and you'll save some serious money.

You get what you pay for.
Cheaper pads wont be as good. My preference is to always have the best that I can afford, therefore I'll generally buy EBC or original pads for my brakes.
I had cheap ones once and they wore out within a month or so. My current original Avid pads have been used through the whole summer season at Buller every second weekend and are still going strong.
I've read that the Hayes sintered metalic pads are pretty good value for money - Still about $55 per end, but they are of a decent thickness and the wear is good...

$56 an end is way too high for BR-M475 resin pads (bottom end shimano disc brake)
I'll check the price tomorrow.
