Hey guys, I need your advice... our local jump has not been ridden for quite sometimes now and it's only recently that i've managed to find some time to visit there again.
To my suprise, a LOT of plants have been mysteriously growing on the opposite side of the take off ramp and the landing ramp, some are grass but others range to about 50-60cm tall. At the moment, it not obscuring the view of the landing ramp when you're in the air, and it's still OK to jump.
Does bits of vegetation adds strength to the structure of the jump? or should it be wiped out entirely?

Leave em, the roots hold all the dirt together.
If it wasnt for plant life my downramp would be non-existant

Yeah the plants are fine, buts its only the roots you need to keep the ramps good. If they get in the wayof your jumping cut them down a bit and leave the roots

As long as they are not in the way, I would leave them there...

you could give them a bit of a prune.. but they'll hold your jump together real good.
Some natural fertiliser, like cow manure or blood+bone will be great for them :D

actually, from expreience, if the plants grow ok on their own, then there is no real need to fertilise them. enrichening the soil promotes growth above ground, but no real growth in root structure, as the soil is sufficiently rich as not to need more root structure.
in essence i suppose, leave them be for good results.

I like a hard packed takeoff and landing so you roll in and out smoother, landing in long grass would suck a fair bit.
Having grass on the back of kicker and transition rocks. Holds it togeather ace. Just looks a tad funny!
