View Full Version : Splice maintenance
I've recently bought a pair of Splice Supers and I've read that Stance's need carefull attention coz the seals like to blow pretty early - do I need to take any precautions with my Splices?- I do give them a bit of a thrashing now and again..
Cheers

My friends experiences with splices are that they are pretty reliable. new seals are only $20 or so dollars anyway, so blow away I say!
Mate's got some, loves them! Given them a reasonable thrashing (trail riding only) and they seem good. Just like any other fork, keep stantions and seals clean, should be good!
that's good to know! Wipe off the dust and crap from the stantions and seals after a ride yeh? Do I need to lightly coat the stantions with oil or something?
There are many schools of thought, but I usually wipe off all crap, put a little bit of suspension oil on a rag and wipe it around the stantion. Then bounce the fork up and down a few times and wipe off the excess. Seems to work well enough.
When I'm not being lazy that is :)
That keeps the seals lubed, you may find some crap comes out when you do the bouncing as well.
cool, off to my LBS to grab some oil then - should get a chain cleaner too i think..
