For those who don't know, we have had one nasty winter here in Southern California. It was been raining a lot over the last seven months; we've had more than 30" of rain--which is about .94" short of breaking a 124 year old record for the wettest winter on record.
At first we welcomed the rain; it gave us an opportunity to build new jumps, berms, etc. However, now our DH shuttle runs are just overgorwn and rutted. Well, now that's it May, I thought we would be done with all of this rain, well I was wrong, it rained all day yesterday. In addition, we are about 3-4 months away from having our resorts open, since it's still snowing.
I'm not one to complain about the weather, since there is nothing you can do about it, but this is just out of control. Since I grew up in the Los Angeles area, we're not used to seeing this much rain...on average we get about 12-14" of rain...needless to say, we couldn't ride much this winter.

Oh noes! The "freezing" is coming after us! *Goes from shivering cold to rock hard and dead as "freeze" passes over me* God that movie licked my balls.
The Day After Tommorow was an awesome movie
quit whinging:P Mammoth Mountain has had 595" of snowfall this season and it's still commin! 18" over the last two days....someone should tell the Sierra's that it's spring over there and not the middle of winter!......Send the snow down here.

At least it's only 30 days, 11 hours, 34 minutes and 52 seconds till our ski season opens.

Yeah the rain does make it a hell lot harder to get out on the bike, but it makes it more interesting.
if you really wanted, you could ask the weather to send some rain down here, i forget the last time we had a decent rainfall.
i agree with naz, it's gonna happen and we'll all be fucked

I'm happy to report that it is 75 today and sunny! Now I just need to find the time to ride...a little dirt jumping sounds good this afternoon...or maybe some shuttle runs...
yeah, but there has to be snow to ski :p
so 595" of snowfall has cocured this season and you're saying there's no snow?

Maybe this means that America could produce a DH rider who can actually ride in wet conditions, and quickly too?
Nice and dry here too, probably a sign for a good winter ski season- in fact, the last few seasons have been great, i've even run fats in some of the snow. And a 595" season is a killer, pity Whistler sucked nuts when we were there. :(

I live in Los Angeles; it doesn't snow here. Hopefully, this winter trained some DHers to ride in the rain--we got enough of it...

doesn't look like it Daver. We're in the middle of El Nino and the air moisture content is very low compared to previous years. Looks like the season will either be shit or late....check out www.ski.com.au weather section for a multitude of predictions
