While the worlds best riders stuggle to get one decent 4X track to race on in a whole World Cup series, the worlds best BMXers get treated to this insane, evil motherfarker of a course at the X-Games every year...

That's real guys, straight from the X-Games website...60 odd foot gap...nutters. Wade Bootes was there and racing, came in 31st out of 31 but good on him for having the stones to ride this shit, it's totally off the wall.

I guess when the World Cup becomes as popular as the X Games we'll see big dollar courses like that one.

it dosent get much bigger than this on push bikes full stop
The amount of speed those guys carry through the course, plus the amount of air they get, is nucken futs.
But then again, I think the course is designed to be a balls out jump fest, MTB DH could do something like that if they wanted, but I'd rather a variation in course to allow for different skills to shine.

its like micromachines...those jumps are seriously XL. Wade boots is one of the better 4x racers out there right and he got 31st outta 31...wonder how whoever won would go in the MTB 4x races...?

thats crazyness. i have only seeen one mad mtx track and that was el arish. and that scared the crap out of me. and then theres this!!!! bloody hell that would be UNREAL. thats annoying how no suspension boys are going bigger than us. grrr.

like dale holmes, timo pritzl, lopes rides bmx ey? etc
and they have no gone bigger they just win the 4X's

looks like one huge jumping course - they will have downhill sections to get the speed up - but its all jumps - where are the 10 foot drop offs and fast but techy sections?? course is built for specific purpose - ridiculous insane jumps

Can some one please tell me why MTBs can't run on that course too ??(as seperate event). An extra event means more publicity for the X games..........seems stupid to me.
And after just replying to 2stepin's thread about lame DH couses, maybe this is the kinda thing those big jump nutters would love.
It's just a cheap TV spectacle... but I guess it'd be nice to throw some MTB's on it just for kicks (ha-ha, bad pun)

i dont reckon mtb's could do it...it would be too hard to maintain speed.
no way!
a 26" wheel will roll alot quicker and maintain momentum alot more than a 20" wheel.

MTB's aren't designed for BMX jumps. Bigger wheels and longer wheelbase need a different style takeoff to small wheels and short wheelbase.

meh when i was racing cruisers & bmx as well as mtb they all felt the same to me as far as technique went. could clear the same jump on all of em

It can say what you like.......we can all SEE the jumps, who cares what it's called......look at them, they are ridable on a MTB.

Oh and of course no MTB could possibly clear the jumps at the average BMX race track...think BEFORE you speak, BEFORE.

fair enough, i was mainly getting at the fact that some mtb's cant clear BMX jumps, i mean i jump with some pretty good jumpers and some of them cant even clear a triple at Knox bmx track that bmx'rs can clear.
those who have been thier will know the jump im talking about
