Used both. On the full-sintered M06 now, they work excellent in all conditions, last for ages, and have a good amount of grab - but i've felt better. If you're not a perfectionist, no problem, but if you want maximum bite, it might be best to use an aftermarket pad. I'm still in the process of finding out which is best.. :o

The resin's work sweet in my friends deore's, and I like them better I think. But I can't say for sure..

Either way, you'll hear mixed opinions about everything. The only way to find the right pad is to try it I reckon.

I'd run whichever pads comes with your brakes until they're worn out, and then try something aftermarket.

EBC Red, EBC Gold, Kool-Stop, Clarks VRX...

if you run resign shim pads or ebc green/red with shims metallic pad rotors (lots of holes) you will get the best stopping power  . but the metallic pads will always last longer with almost the same amount of power. :D

I'm using EBC Golds for my XT 4 pots and they are excellent. I would never go back to the Shimano resin pads after using these.

The benefits:

Great bite. The pads feel like they work as soon as they touch the disk, unlike the resin ones which feel like they need some pressure before they work.
Excellent power.
Very predictable action and good modulation. The predictability of the pads allows an excellent degree of modulation.

A few problems though:

The gold pads create so much friction they can create serious overheating problems. Probably best to use the EBC Reds for DH.
They are noisy. Not so loud that it drives you crazy but the noise is a high pitched scraping sound which can be disconcerting until you get used to it.
They eat disks. Its not like you will have to replace disks every 2 months but they will shorten the life of your disks.
The comments above would probably apply to most of the sintered metallic pads as well.
