I had a look on Ebay last week - for the first time ever! - and decided to have a go at buying something.

Anyway the end result is, after forgetting all about it, I get home on friday and find a package from USPS on my doorstep!

I am the proud owner of a Surly Singleator - second hand, but brand new. I was a bit worried about how much it cost, I had actually forgotten all about it, so I checked my credit card online and it was only $31 including delivery in less than a week!!

Anyone else got cool Ebay stories?

P.S. How much are these Singleators worth in australia? Its a damn nice piece of kit to add to my collection..

The cost of postage is determined by the weight and size of the package.
What specific sized item are you sending?

I live in Adelaide (far away from where most stuff is being sold), and I've never paid anything over $150 for postage within Australia. This includes bikes, forks and frames.

Postage is usually added on top of the final sale price. There's a page on the Australia Post website where you can punch in the package size and weight along with the source and destination postcodes that normally gives a reasonable estimate of what postage will cost.

(PS: Try reading over what you've typed before hitting Submit Reply, that 'sentence' is barely deciferable).

Ebay is a great place to sell and buy....

Just do a bit of research into feedback of buyer/seller before you commit to biddin.

To get something sold though start off small, cause if you have no feedback people are a little suss and make sure you've priced it realistically to sell.

Once you have several sales then put up that bike/hi expense part you want sold.

Watch out for farkiners though, as they will still hassle you to drop the price/or pay you in 2 weeks or some other bullshit...............

If you say you short on cash and need some money, remember that you have to pay ebay fee's after your sale.
They take 2% of final cost.

They take 2% of final cost.

No, that's incorrect, the percentage is dependant on the finishing price.

You can find the details here:

Have made some good buys on ebay, best being an 04 Demo 9 brand spankers well very close to for 3200. Really good way to shop but research your buys before you bid, as someone has said already check the sellers feedback. Anyway happy bidding all.
