What do you reckon? Best downhill track in Australia for maybe a world cup? Even suggestions for the Nationals, I reckon Mt Coramba, Coffs Harbour. This place has got it all. Sun, heaps of accommo, airport, major highway and a wicked DH course for all (with lots of new track built this year by us locals).

Location sounds pretty good for you mate, but why not have it in a nice sunny place. I'd suggest the obvious Thredbo. Heaps of accom in summer and the most important thing a CHAIR LIFT!!!!.
Very cool place and quality track.

Buller.
Same benefits as Thredbo and a better track. Plus there's more than one track and it's cheaper.
Hey Dozer, I reckon you've got a mad track there. I'm a big fan.
Are you one of the locals that we hooked up with on the weekend?
That new section of track is wicked. It'll be even better after some rain. And I really like the work you've done on the top rock garden.
Mt Coramba has got the goods. Too bad there's no chairlift.

Yeah man, thats me on the DaBomb. I see your pic on the left is on the top stump jump.
I reckon we have enough quality tracks in Oz to run the entire world cup !!
Keep em comin, big road trip to check all the tracks out would be sweet.

Hey man, good to see you on Farkin. PM me when you come visit Brissy.
If you want to ride the best tracks in Australia, no trip would be complete without Cairns on the schedule. I'll be there on Thursday - yippeeee. Can't wait to get me some Rocky Horror.

you'll love cairns. I think that cairns has all the best mtb tracks around. Where else can you find 30min downhill tracks in aus? Cairns has it all for Downhilling by far the tuffest rock gardens and some of the most high speed tracks (way faster than thredbo)
and Kram when you go to Cairns you have to try kuranda, Robsons and Waddle Bla. Lets gust say its abit of a step up from our tracks here in Brisbane
from what ive riden - Buller... awsome, but not really world cup worthy.
From what ive heard - Cairns... cant wait to head up there to ride

well, Cairns did hold the last WC enent in Oz in '96, so back then atleast it was the shit, and from the sounds of it it still is! i'd love to get up there one day, i'll probably have to wait a few years though, just til i have a drivers license.
anyway.
Buller? nah, i don't think so, not quite at WC level. it is an awsome track, and there are some of the coolest lines just begging to be noticed, but i just don't think it is up to WC level - i'm not sure why though.
and Thredbo? well, apart from the track it is the perfect place in Aus, Chair, lots of Accom. at all price levels, everything is near everthing etc.
only drawbacks are that it is like 6 hours away from the nearest International airport, and that the place would need nearly an entirely new track.
so so far it seems that Cairns would still be the best place to go. i have always had an ambition to be the Race Director for a WC event, one day i'd love to get another round in Oz, one day...

No good for a world cup or even a national round , due to restricted space at the top of the run , but Mt. Stanley in Vic. is my fave.
5 - 6 minutes long for fast guys and over 700m of vertical , a steep and very tech. rock garden , fire road that you can hit 80 k's on , and lots of flowy singletrack and berms. Only a couple of short pedally bits too. It never gets crowded and blown out , due to its location 18 ks from Beechworth , deep in the wilderness ! Watch out for Wallaby ambushes on the fire trail , the little buggers come out of nowhere !
