The Johnny Waddell Recovery Raffle is now officially under way. Click on the link that is provided below.

Items to be raffled to raise money for the Johnny Waddell Recovery Fund include a Santa Cruz Blur frame, Santa Cruz SuperLight or Juliana frame, complete Santa Cruz Chameleon bicycle, Progressive 5th Element shock, Maxxis tires and more. Clif Bar, Inc. has also provided five huge Clif/Mojo gift packs to raffle that include a case of Mojo bars, Clif Shot hat, Clif Bar Running hat, Clif Shot T-shirt, Clif Bar water bottle, Mojo Bar bottle opener and a Mojo Bar magnet.

Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association (TMBRA), Santa Cruz, Clif Bar, Inc., Progressive, BikeReg.com, PinkBike.com and RideAway Bicycles in San Antonio Texas have donated the above prizes for the Johnny Waddell Recovery Raffle.

What’s this raffle about, you ask?

Johnny Waddell is a Santa Cruz downhill pro. At Mont Ste. Anne’s World Cup race Johnny had an extremely unfortunate accident. He was in a coma for 3 ½ weeks and has suffered brain damage and a slightly severed nerve in his right hand. He’s walking and talking better every day and is making faster progress than the doctors have ever seen from someone who has the types of injuries Johnny has. We are trying to raise money to help cover medical and simple living costs. Johnny has trained hard to become a professional downhill racer and freerider. Let’s all keep a positive mental attitude regarding Johnny’s recovery. Thanks for your support.

Hope you Aussies help out. Johnny could use whatever we can raise. Let's hear from his homeland.

I will set aside a raffle item to raffle only to the Aussies who purchase tickets. You'll be eligible for the other prizes also, but I am trying to encourage you to support one of your own.

Admin, could you please make this post a Sticky?

This is a little hard,

I have to leave 2 phone numbers, mine and an emergency number yet it won't accept our pnone numbering system. Why the hell do i have to leave details of an emergency contact just to enter a raffle ??

could farkin put together some sort of bulk ticket buy scheme thing to save us all sending our little bit of money over to bloody texas?

If everyone sends money to say someone in admin, keep list of names, send one big money order, direct deposit or credit card payment over (better still, straight to john) and they send back a list of ticket numbers...allocate list of ticket numbers in order of names recieved to keep everything kosha, post up on here before the draw... just an idea and save a lot of people the hassle. Plus going from the "how old" threads, there may be a lot of younguns asking for parents credit card numbers and having to go thru those hassles is just annoying!

Just an idea

Umm the farkin group buy thing would be cool ... but im not sure if we want to get involved with others peoples money as yet. Dont know what the others reckon .. but kinda complicated.

The emergency phone number is because the site is really race related, but they are trying to help the cause. You can put your number twice or a number for you parents or significant other. Sorry it seems like a hassle but I'm just trying to help. It's American $10. We have been getting purchases from Canada already and they seem pretty happy with it.

If you do a group buy, I'd have to send the raffle items to the Admin and let him raffle off the numbers. Australians are eligible for the raffle and to have the winning items sent to them.

Hey Everyone,

Only 5 more days until the Johnny Waddell Recovery Raffle ticket sales ends. So far we have raised over $3,000 to help Johnny and his mom with medical and living expenses. Thanks to everyone who is participating.

One thing has changed since the raffle started. Instead of e-mailing numbers to everyone, we are going to enter your names in the raffle for the tickets you purchased. So if you purchased 10 tickets, we’ll put your name in the drawing 10 times.

Officially, sales of raffle tickets ends on October 30th. We will hold the raffle on November 9th and announce the winners at that time. I will then give the sponsors the winners’ names, e-mail addresses and mailing addresses. I will let the winners know who they need to get in touch with to get their raffle prize. If there are any problems, I can be contacted at tmcches@yahoo.com and my name is Terry McChesney.

If you still want to purchase tickets before October 30th, please click on the link below.

http://www.bikereg.com/races/register.asp?EventID=1076

Again, thanks to everyone who entered the raffle and good luck.
