wouldn't be without it now.
when you take in the cost of calls, the second line and the isp costs, worked out about the same as we were paying for dial up.
optus for us, but was way better when they just had the 10 times limit, rather than the set download limit.

yeah we got suckered by optus aswell, changed to iinet, 10 GB peak/ 10 GB off peak. not quite as fast as optus cable (on a 512/256 setup) but really good value for money.

heh, when we first got it, optus just had a policy where if you used 10 times the national average, you were classed as over using and they cut you off till the end of them month, now they have the set limits and you buy a size you want.
the old way was way better, even if we did keep hitting the limit semi regularly. (damn those movie downloads)

yeah it was great, but people abused it running file servers and stuff (like one of my former housemates did) and it messed up the whole system.

Yeah well getting cable up here isn't possible, nobody is willing to lay that much cable. One of dad's mates out here has satellite though, now damn that is quick!!!

I've got cable (Telstra) and while it's fast enough, the reliability sucks balls. It drops out fairly often (as much or more than dialup) and often just refuses to connect. Wish we could get Optus in my area.

Optus cable here, bundled with our phone bill we get it at a decent price.
Whilst the cap can be a nuisance, days like today, where I have 700meg to go for 2 days, are fun!
But unfortunately, not all websites are lightning quick, but I can live with that.

Basically they advertise $50 a month unlimited plans, but thn they fail to mention that there are upload - download - etc....etc....
and people end up getting bills of thousands of $$$$$$$. there was a 21 year old with a $10-000 bill for 1 month !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also lots of other people with $1-2-3000 bills.

yeh, if ure gonna get cable dont get telstra. optus are da bomb. my telstra adsl drop out a far bit and are extremly unreliable. :)

I've got iinet 512k ADSL (i live in the bush), but i rather it to cable cause i get 13 gig dl cap... it's sweeeet, id never go back to DU... yark.
