There is a hole near the drop outs and apparently they bolt on there. Ive heard of them on DMR's and on Santa Cruz i think was the other brand but i dont know if you can buy them

You mean the two holes near the dropout? That IS the disc mount... I'm pretty sure no Rhythms ever came without disc mounts.

No there not the disc mounts i bought the bike from Daver and i think it was originally Chris Southwoods and apparently he got them shaved off or thats what they said at BA

Yes but that costs money like more money than a bolt on costs if they exist

A2Z components make an adapter to let you run disc mounts, although getting it gripped would be better.

Yar, I like the cut of your jib, matey!

Just a quick comment about bolt on disc mounts (and I'm really not spamming for work here... we are Soooooooo busy!)... I haven't seen ONE that doesn't rock back and forth, come loose, stretch holes and fark frames.

(looks around to see just whose toes I've stood on!)

this is probably one of the better designs http://tandem-fahren.de/Mitglieder/Christoph_Timm/martin4.jpg

BUT there's no gusset between the stays and the clamp on the stay has to be an absolute precise fit for a particular bike and stay or you get the sloppy feel and movement.

Now be honest... which would you rather have on your bike! That^^^^^^^ or this before and after shot here?

And Frenchy, you're right... it does cost more than a bolt on mount. Sorry.

i would be ditching the idea of bolt on seen people run it on bmxs with issues., i thought those two holes on the drop out where something to do with old school racks, or mud guards..? unless we are talking about the wrong holes.

in the end through 'its not a brake, unless its a rim brake'.
but if you really need discs, go grip.. at least you know it will work.

I import and sell the A2Z adapter that everyone is talking about, and while it works ok for the dollars (bout $80) it is more of a temporary solution for tight arses and the skint than a effective long term solution. Save up your pennies and get it gripped, its only bout $150 right?

Beno.

Thanks for that beno, but I should probably say that when I "bagged" the bolt-on mounts I was realy only meaning when they are used by really hard riding folk doing DH and trials type riding (because the reality is that type of riding is going to put huge stresses on ANY mount). If people want a disc mount for lighter work (commuting, bike paths, road and light trail) then a bolt on like the A2z should work fine.

I guess I assumed that if the topic was being raised here on Farkin then we weren't talking easy-going riding.

The ones that i have seen bolt onto the left v-brake mount and then onto the little hole near the drop outs and it is basically a rod and the disc mounts are on the rod. Hense bolt on disc mounts
