I have a new 24' rear wheel on my hardtail which I use mainly for DH with a tad of DJ thrown in and I have NO idea what tyres are availible in 24'..?? What would be good? C'mon.. ideas!?
I'm currently running a Maxxis Minion 2.5 Slow Reezay on my 26' front wheel...
Tyre choice is super limited in Australia; I run a 24x2.5" Highroller slow-reezay for downhill and it rocks my shit. The only thing I would conceivably change it for would be a 24" Minion Front, if it existed.

Specialized do a number of 24" DH tyres, the kevlar bead ones are a really tacky dual compound, and they're fairly light, and cheapish ($49.95). I've been running the 26" ones for a while and they are a really good tyre.
Intense have a couple of 24" tyres too, so do Duro. Overall the selection is limited, but there is plenty out there.

go the INTENSE 909 last for ages. have had one on back of bighit riding on everything. can only get them in 2.5 some saft compund thats not even that soft but ther sweet one thing you must be carefull not to bed the tyre itself.

The 24'' 2.5 Highrollers are a good tyre for downhill, but i find them very slow on the road and hardpack dirtjumps. Put a DMR RT 2.35" on and it rolls like a breeze.

Get a 24X2.5 highroller 60a compound....... grips well enough and also rolls quick... i did have 24X2.7 highroller supertacky but changed to harder compound because it rolls much quicker..
