It co-incided with the end of school holidays, but given the tenuous nature of Mtb access to Glenrock, this isn't going to help the cause at all. This is just a snap shot of the works and doesn't show the true extent of what has been done.

The new trail and clearing is near the suicide gap (DJ's opposite the Creek Gap entry) and as this is an area that has previously been pissing off the NPWS, I think we will cop some heavy flak over this one.

Any Glenrock riders know whats going on here or who may be resposible? The GTA (www.glenrocktrailalliance.tk) are already in damage control with the NPWS on this so the more info we have on this the better.

Seems this is getting worse in this area. The NPWS expressed severe concern relating to this area last month when we last met.

Please, if you ride the DJ's here, restrict new stuff to the quarries (any of them) as the NPWS will turn a blind eye to stuff down there. The vegetation clearing, earthmoving, rubbish accumulating and new jump runs above the quarries (around suicide and in the photos above) are starting to cause major issues.

If you ride there and have thoughts please share them, but it is hard to continue putting a case to the NPWS while this shit is occuring.

There are heaps of good trails in Glenrock, but unfortunalty they are all at risk of getting bull dozed. Of course pirate trail builers will rebuild the trails, but it will take years to develop a decent network again.

So as really the clean up thing is not the issue.

Nothing worse than someone elses inconsideration risking something that we all enjoy.

The real issue here is that the NPWS was starting to make concessions to have legit DJ's in the park (albeit in an alternate location).

Now I'm not niave enough to think that all riders would be aware of this (although we have tried damn hard to make as many aware as possible), but I do know there are a large number who are aware and just don't care about the access issues.

This is what hurts the most.

We were going to try and state a case for cleaning up and regenerating the area around the existing DJ's in a hope of retaining what is there, although that plan has firmly gone out the window for the moment. NPWS aren't at all happy with what has gone on up there in recent weeks, and to be completely honest, I side with them on this issue.

In the past 6 - 12 months weve seen XC and DH trail construction grind almost to a complete halt (although there has been some very benificial maintenance done on the sly), but the recent activities in the DJ's have really put everyones access at risk.

sammyD, my suggestion is to nail some info to the trees in that area. ( like at the carpark) let the kids know and i bet they will just go down to the quarry and build. (god knows they both need some work)
