i think there needs to be a thread or a sticky in each riding catagory for upcoming races
where every body can post a race, time , cost ect
but it needs to be kept orginised and made sure that races only get posted once.
it needs to be like the one on the front page of this site but needs to made better, easyer to read, and only austrailia,
maybe one for the nationals,
one for different state rounds,
and just races that are held for the fun of it.
i find that in my view no one looks at the one on the front page any way, i dont even look at the front page, havnt been there in a long time.
the thing is i find out about local races (and far away races that i would have gone to) way too late.
its just an idea.
i know alot of people would use it (if it was run properly)

i tried making one a while ago, but it never really got a sticky or "took off" :p

hope an administrator will look here and also decide its a good idea :D

yeah some thing like that but, with out the post whore comments in between.
and also it should be deleted after the date of the race.
and catagorised into state ect as i stated above, or it becomes to hard to find races ect.
but good to see you tryed, (i posted a race in there)

You mean something like this? http://www.farkin.net/schedule.php?
Just make a thread in here about the race, and put the results in the same one

i for 1 never visit the front page.
and it never really gets used for local races.
it only ever gets used for national races and mostly got international "pro" races.
im talking about a thread where only aus races get posted.
and needs to be used and viewed by every one.

Ok, a few things:
- a thread like you're describing would be an absolute pain in the ass, as well as being messy and hard to follow. It's hard enough getting people to follow the trading templates, I can't see it being any easier in a thread like that.
- we already have a system in place, as shmity demonstrated and the reason it isn't used for more local races is because nobody submits race details! I don't really see why using that system is any more difficult than having a thread you can post in, and it is structured so it's much easier to read.
- there are a lot of people (although you no included obviously) who do visit the front page, and is it really that hard for you to click on a link there instead of clicking on a link to a race thread?
I'm sorry if I'm coming across a bit harsh here, but the system is there, and personally I'm inclined to believe that people don't use it because they don't know about it, not because it's particularly lacking. How about making an effort to use what is already available instead of demanding another (IMO less practical) system is put in place. :)

ok ok.
i think what is on the front page is good.
but i would think that it would work better in the forums.
also all clubs ect need to be contacted and asked to submit race details into it.
dont get me wrong i think the system is perfect (we just need a way 2 make ppl use it)
a thread would be very messy and hard to understand (and as ive stated some where above wouldnt work at all)
so the question now might be how to get more people to use it with out it being abused.
ALSO
i would use it heaps but as i clearly stated is that im having trouble finding out about races.
im allways either the last on the planet to know about them or find out well after them.
soooooo.............
all im asking now
is that we find a way for the all ready existing page with races on it to be used and all races to be entered into it,
catagorised in to XC, DH, ect,
aus, world, ect
nsw, vic, ect
and moved into the forums.
i very much think that moving it would help a great deal.

it's a good system as is.
maybe just put up an announcment stating where it is and how to use it (coz obviously its very difficult) - that would help with getting people to notice it more.

south aust mtb (http://s13.invisionfree.com/South_Aust_MTB/index.php?) has SA coverd
Any one that wants to post races up for SA can do it there and all of the races will be made a sticky but will be deleted when race is over.
just make sure you have a diferent post for each race.
thanks
