nice, i didnt know jeep came out with one. a while back a demo'ed a Christini AWD full suspension bike. it was soo cool. i was riding it XC at the time, and when i went up a hill, if the rear tire started to slip, the front tire would engage.
pretty cool rear wheel/all wheel drive option where you could just flip a switch.
the only problem, was that the gear ration for the front was a minute bit smaller than that for the back so it was a bit akward. hopefully they've fixed that by now.
check it out at http://www.christini.com

I'm no engineer, but I'm pretty surprised they used a shaft drive system, there'd be a fairly noticeable power loss in the front drive when activated. Also the front shaft running down to the hub could screw with the compression rates of the fork.
Yamaha, AFAIK have been dominating Paris-Dakar in recent years using an AWD moto which utilises a hydraulic fluid drive hub system. This setup however may not work with a MTB having a rear deraileur.
