View Full Version : Using "Search" function before posting questions
Just a thought (and I'm sure I'm guilty of it too) but so many times you see the same questions over and over in new threads. An engineering forum I visit makes it MANDATORY to first use the search function and to check their FAQ section BEFORE posting any questions. if you continually repost old questions that have been dealt with you are reminded... then warned... and I assume then your questions are removed and you get blacklisted. Is that sort of thing really difficult to set up here?
Thanks Grip, it is somethng that should be looked at. People new to the forum mustn't notice that there is now 50,000+ posts in te forums, so it is more than likely there question might already have an answer!
but also, if they want to suggest something or add to the question isn't it considered digging up old threads?

if the exhumed, decomposing, stinking corpse of a thread was crap to start with, chop it into small pieces and leave it for the dogs.
some of the older threads do have something to contribute, and we could always wash those off, bit of make up, a new dress, and they are ready for date.
on second thoughts maybe i should have thought of a better analogy?
 no lupine that ones perfect :P
Lupine is right, use some brains, im sure u can figure out what is considered grave digging and what is not.
If there is some worthwhile info to be contributed to, add it. If its just a random thread about nothing, leave it.
