I dunno if it is out in regular book stores, but I contacted the Australian distributor and they sent it to me. It was pretty cheap and there weren't any hassels.
Its a pretty decent book for the price I think.

Major book stores have dictionaries too! ;) IMO you should buy him some gloves or a helmet, it's something that will get him riding quicker. There are a few MTB books at the shops, nothing all that interesting. How about an mtb magazine subscription??

It was Human Kinetics, www.humankinetics.com, i just ordered the book from the onlline store, so i didn't really contact the distributer.
It was about $37, plus postage. Took a while to recieve it, but thats because they didn't have any in stock and had to get a new shipment in, at least thats what they said.
If your not into reading and technical stuff though, don't bother, cuase it gots alot of that in it. Pretty pictures though.
Hope I could help.
