Hi! i am a locasl rider from the dural area, and the only sort of tracks i know in castle hill are Fred Catterson BMX track, and one small bush track that lasts only 100 metres or so... would you or anyone else know of any wicked offroad riding for mountaion biker enthusiasts. Just looking for some wicked jumps, bumps, trails, techy climbs etc.
good to hear from anyone who knows some local trails!!!
ride on!

I just moved to Castle Hill... just Gilbert Road so yeah I'm pretty close to Fred Caterson. I don't know too many places around there either but I did find some dirt jumps and some other small tracks nearby, just behind the shopd on Gilbert road.... I'm also playing around at a small park near mine with a whole lot of rock ledge drops and shit... nothing bigger than probably 4foot but still a bit of fun.
There is so much bushland and shit around here I just need to find some time to find a bit.
anyone else nearby?????

i've only been down there a couple of times, and there are lots of locals on here to help out, but...
on the corner of thomas and mary sts, there is a park. if you ride down the road next to the park past the scout hut you will see a rail crossing. just before that is a wide track on the left. follow that in and it will dump you in a largish clearing. you'll see a widishsteep fireroad in front of you. follow that to the top of the hill, and about a dozen track lead back down.
go nuts, have fun.

OK, just so everyone realises...lupine is talking about Castle Hill in Ipswich, QLD I'm guessing you Sydney boys are talking about a Castle Hill somewhere in NSW. Moral of this story put the STATE and CITY you're talking about in the title of posts in The Watering Hole in future.

Yes!!! Hey all, me again... just lettin you all know i found a couple of tracks... well, i only found one new one, but i forgot to mention another...

I was on my way home from TAFE and i met this guy on the train, he had a giant... Nice hope discies, all the bomb... Just a hardtail tho... He reccommended a trail behind hornsby tafe, i go to ultimo tafe... "A couple of small drops and some jumps"... well, me and my uncle headed out there that weekend, there were only four obvious drops... but PLENTY more to be built/constructed with a little bit of helping hand... the slope of the ground ranges from near vertical to almost flat, and it is all contained within a 200 by 300 metre bush area, hidden by tafe and the pool...
to get there, just head down the driveway between the pol and the playground(next to tafe)and when you get to the chain, head right at the big gum down some stairs... the first drop is at the bottom of the stairs, only about 6-8 foot onto a rock... a bit of a gap, but easy for experienced riders...
this drop flows into the second, about up to 4 maybe 5 metres, small built up landing(needs work)with a gap of about three to four metres... looks hairy, but do-able...
anyways, the other one is a little hidden track that me and my mates have been working on... nothing special...
its got some jumps, two drops, and soon to be built north shore shit.... my crazy bmx friends haver built a couple of small crate jumps too, but they are close, and only built by amateur 10-17 year olds... little newbie grommits...
to get there, its simple... Go to galston, stop opposite the high school at the oval(not the pool entry, but the smaller car park at the other end near the road), you should see the beginnings of the jumps along the left hand side of the oval, not much for MBKers but if you know how to ride bmx jumps on a mountain bike, go for it i say...

thats all for now...

Chill out sickedachops!!!!

Hey guys, i'm from around the area also and am constantly looking for new places to ride, that aren't an hours drive away. I've see guys coming out of the Fred Catterson reserve with some pretty nice rides, Giant AC's and the like, but never been in there to investigate. Exactly how much stuff is in there to ride? Whats the go with the trails at Galston Park too? Are there any MTBer's in the area who are going to build stuff there or what?
Regards
Dave
