rooks, theres a difference between the stupid shit these american "gangstars" come up with, and then to good stuff everyone eles can come up with because they aint having stupid wars over lyrics. Rik is right, its an image sale, you wonder why they have all that bling, cause they make there mills off image, not content. i think its great though, cause with shit like that runnin commercial, the real rap/hiphop stays underground to those who deserve to listen to it.

Rap isnt bad, there are some great groups/artists out there. It has just become so horribly mainstream that, just like any new fad, you get the hordes of crap made purely for video hits on a saturday morning. I think half of tupacs fame is simply from the controversy, everone loves controversy. Think about all the bullshit that has been made popular for the fact that it is controversial. (Silva Plath vs Ted Hughes {who gives a fuck about a whinging crazy ass femminist, yes I have spent the past few boring months studying it}, Eminem, That fat guy who rips into anything he can {cant remember his name for some reason, you know bowling for columbine, ect}, ect.. I know some of the people I have mentioned actualy had some skill in their field, its just that that is not what they became popular for.

for those of you who are saying all tupac was was pop a cap in yo ass e'say im loco crap, well you're wrong, he had some of the best songs about stopping people killing each other in the "ghetto", ghetto gospel for example. he and eminem made the real rap back in the day, and now you're all associating tupac rap with pussy stuff like akon and nelly. there are still lots of great rappers who arn't just out there to make money, but they are the ones who people have never heard of. and btw i'm a rock/punk guy, but i like lots of good rap too. tupac sang about what he did because thats what he lived around, if he grew up in a heavy rock world then he probly would have sang about that.

Man, I haven't thought about this in years. Without a doubt, he was killed almost 10 years ago, on the Las Vegas Strip. Here in the States, it was all over the news for a few years.
I'll be the first to admit, I was NOT a Tupac fan, but did see enough TV shows about his death to figure out what happened.
It's pretty easy, moments before the shooting, Tupac, Suge Knight, and his boys, ganged up on one guy, and beat him down. I'm pretty sure that guy went to get some revenge...

I'm pretty sure he died in '96 which is a couple of years before eminem came to fame. But I do agree with your point, he wasn't all that "yo yo nigga popacap" he spoke about actual social issues and challenged the status quo (e.g. changes). Also he was very philosophical and had respect for different music e.g. classical (his favourite song was the theme from les' miserables if I ermember correctly).
(In referance to Bodin's post in another thread (sweet FA) I'm trying to prove that not all guys with chicks in there avatar are immature)
