Has anyone ever toyed with the idea of selling non mtb related stuff on Farkin? I'm not suggesting turn it into ebay or any other trade site but maybe a strictly controlled section to sell member's goods.
For example, I may have a kayak for sale, an unused tent, a camelbak etc etc.
Would it work or is it too much to worry about?
I know you would have people trying to sell their neighbours cat and a pile of cd's but if it were controlled it might work?

Yeah, it has been brought up before, but it's not somewhere that we really want to go at all.

The reason that the current for sale section is effective is that it's a targeted market, everyone looking through it knows they're looking for bike parts as do the sellers. In addition, the for sale section is meant to compliment the rest of the forums, not be an entity on it's own. Selling anything and everything would just make it all a major headache for all of us, and take away from what Farkin is (a mtb site).

What about putting non-MTB items that you have for sale in your sig? Is that legit?

Not that I have anything for sale, but for those that do.

Nah - a microwave is far too MTB-related to be a problem. It's the really weird stuff, like ironing boards, that cause problems.
