Am VERY new to AutoCad... had it (AutoCAD2005) running fine for a month or so... then suddenly get the following message (whenever I try to start it) and the program simply aborts.

AutoCAD Error Aborting
FATAL ERROR: All of the possible directories for storing temporary files either do not exist or are read only. Please correct this situation before running AutoCad again.

Have followed instructions from http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&;id=2886797&linkID=2475323 (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2886797&linkID=2475323)<FONT face=Verdana><FONT size=3>

and created "temp" folders everywhere I can think of INCLUDING C:\Temp (which is NOT read only despite what the above error message says) but all to no avail.

Have uninstalled and installed many times.

Have re-installed AutoCAD 2000 (which used to work) but the same thing is now happening to that as well!

Even re-installed an ancient version of AutoCAD14 to try that and it now either locks up on start up and when I check I find it is using 100% of the CPU.

Another error message I've had is

AutoCAD – [Drawing]: acad.exe – Application Error The instruction at "0x7c80979d" referenced memory at "0x015508a0". The memory could not be "written".

I'm at my wits end and will even pay someone to come out and set this up WORKING for me... anyone?

have you run a memory tester to check your ram, i had a similar problem with my adobe suit, tryed everything, in the end it turned out i had 16 dodgey RAM address (out of roughtly a billion) and they had corrupted something.

memtest 86 is probably the best program for a fast thourogh check.
