im really interested in the new 2006 Kona Cowan DS and im finding it really hard to find a dealer who can get one.
does anyone know where i can get one?

Anyone how much rear travel it has?
Weight of the frame?
Geo?
Kona's still look ugly though...:p
From memory, they're on the "special order" list of Konas importer in .au
Which means you may have to wait ages for it to come in, and may be better off looking OS. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think I remember glimpsing at such a statement on their order list the other night.

look at the kona website this bike looks exactly the same as a 06 howler i think they call it 4" rear travel but the howler has a coil over shock and a fixed dropout. Also because the pivot is around the crank housing does this mean that you can run sinle speed because there is no chain growth during compression? i believe that you can anyone confirm?

that is all correct, it runs the same dropout system as the cowan HT, explosif and unit. the frame design is based on the howler but with the old A' (pronounced "eh") linkage.

Um sorry to bring this topic up agian. im really quiet interested in getting one and can't find anywhere to buy them(looking from os because it will be so much cheaper) Thought posting would be better then making a new thread.

Contact the company its self good way to get from OS their either send you one or put you onto the wholesaler of the brand so the price is right

If im not mistaken. Wasnt John Cowan riding one of these. I have seen it in my Mountian bike UK dvd and in a picture shoot of him at Martyn Rd over hear in Mundaring, Perth.

awesome looking frame. i reckon it's the best looking one that kona's done.
the linkage also pivots around the bb, so it may ride similar to the cove g-spot, which has the same linkage style...

call up vic mtb, i cant believe im saying this, but they should be able to help you, but as people have said these are not on the generla order list for kona importers. so you may have to make friends with them quick!

Signature frames are whats cool these days...the reason he has 2 is because Kona can't design good frames so they need cowan too, it's obvious:rolleyes:
Looks pritty nice, i dunno' if i would pay the kinda' dollers im assuming it will be though.

Well all this interest is good i love to see ppl talking about kona bikes, well guess what lads, I HAVE A COWAN DS, it is fukin sick. It came into the country on friday but i havnt had a chance to build it up. It is one of several that came in a special order, dont think that they are available to the general public yet, but with such i limited number i dont think they will be. At the moment i have one, tyron from vicmtb has one, one was a special order and the others will work themselves out, probly go to the kona team riders. sweet machine and i cant wait to get out and ride it.
p.s please dont hassel your bike shop, making them hassel us (groupesportif), because they wont be able to get one, just one of those thimgs i guess. just like the first ever cowen, the orange one, very limited amount in the country, 8 i think.

well today i picked up my cowan DS. yep thats right i got 1. and its awesome.

i say buy the kona frame it looks sweet and will do the job cheers

you cant actully get them from shops. eather your sponserd and got one or they were given to shops as a gift.
i beleave vicMTB is selling the one that they got as a gift, and from what im told its the only one in retail in australia
