I started DH racing back on my 2002 Stinky Deelux, and it did the job. They won't be front runners as far as DH race bikes are concerned, but it will do the job, no problems.

Just go for it. :)

I race an ac2 with dual crowns up front and that does the job and a stinkys got an extra inch of rear over that (on the rear anyway). Alot of my friends just ride stinkys and there easily good enough for the job.

man, that would be more than fine. My friend use 2 ride a releigh xc on the DH! The frame recently snapped in 2, but it had a good run. This thing was the last thing u would race DH on, 70mm rst, 2.0 tyres and close to none rear shox.

Im getting a kona stinky 06 4 DH and FR and thats all u really need, unless u are xtremely good, depends...

Tell that to Fabien dude.

Fabiens is nothing like a production Kona.

I've just started DH and I do it on an '03 Stinky and for my level (bouncing rather than riding down the hill) it's just fine!

That's a bit of an overstatement don't you think?

Kona's Are shit.
Dude, that's a waste of a post.....some may call it post whoring. Maybe you should tell us why you think Kona's are shit, give the guy some reason why he should give your opinion any validity. ;)

Fine, tell Paul Bassagiotia. Sure he's no downhiller but I figure since the original statement, "Konas are shit" was pretty blanket and didn't have any qualification then, i can use Paul Bass. If not, I saw Miles Mead ripping it up at Buller on a (relatively) stock Stab Supreme.

you wanna make a bet.
whats so different about Fabiens Stab Primo compared to a standrad Stab Primo.
he still uses Hayes Mags, 888RCs, Fox DHX. its not like it has a motor hidden in it. he might have his favourite grips and tires...but doesnt everyone ?

would someone point out a difference in the two...besides the insignificant ones i have ?

Actually, Fabien's bike is quite different than stock. he uses hollowed out swinger arms (before Kona added them to their spec). He also has a lower bottom bracket and different floating brake system.

However, at the end of the day, it's still a Kona and it's still the same suspension system. I love my Kona, not because i think it's way better than anything else, I love the fact that it feels predictable, the ride is comfortable and stable and there's nothing I can throw at it that it can't handle.

Definitely not a shit bike...

ok, point taken...both points.

i also love my Kona's. sure there's better bikes out there, but i prefer simple stuff that works.
my stuff was ever faithful for 2 years b4 i got my stinky...why would i want to change brands when this one has been so good to me.
