me and my mates have recently been building jumps on a flat fire road. they have been knocked various times and weve rebuilt them about 4 times and they have just never seemed to flow.it was a 6 pack. we had dug out about 1 ft between them and they were about 4/3ft high with about 4 ft gaps. weve just always had the problem of the jumps not flowing at all. i was just wondering what the tips are to make jumps flow well on flat ground?
cheers any help appreciated

from my experience and judging by the pics you got a few small issues:
#Tombing-when you say dug about a foot out between jumps thats all well and good to get dirt, but that may also be the key problem with the jumps, tombs are designed to get dirt-not to flow, the only means to makes the jumps flowy with tombs is to decrease the gap between the jumps and make the tomb curved.
#Lips - your first lips look pretty mellow, the key to flow is height, it makes the difference between rhythmic jumping and hucking. build your lips a bit more kickier (ie vert/more curve)
#Downramps -so if you have kicky lips or mellow lips you wont get any flow if the down ramps arent steep themselves, you must build steep and curved downramps, which are scary, but enable nice landings that you dont feel to such an extent as a typical wedge shaped downramp, combine this with curved tomb and kicky upramp and you have a set of flowing jumps.
#Packing-sounds obvious but pack the jumps until theyre rock like, including sides backs and lips.
#Distance- 4 foot is too short, flowy jumpos require air time, 4 feet whilst being nice little jumps, will remain little jumps until you increase gap- i suggest like 8 foot for all if they flow enough but you may have to gradually subtract gap, ie first 9 foot, 2nd 8 etc etc.
Just look at other trails like the "trails thread" in pics on ozscene and you'll see the stuff i mentioned before in use.
hope some of that helped.

Dont huck to flat!
Or make the jumps closer together
