View Full Version : which wheelset to get???

hi guy, im building up a new bike to ride 4x on and im wandering what wheelset i should put on it! its a giant xtc3 frame that im gonna build up as a super light weight 4x so the wheelset cant be to heavy but need to be strong enough for a 4x bike??

Mavic Crossland, my friends using them on his 4x bike and has had no troubles whatsoever! 2kg. Tubeless.

Oh and $500-550rrp i believe

Crossmax XL... Or Mavic XM819 rims, w/ DT Alpine III's spokes, DT alum nipples on Hadley or King hubs...

You can pick up a set of Azonic Outlaws for about $400. They convert from QR to 20/12mm through axles and have so far proven damn strong on my DH rig. They're light enough for XC too. Worth checking out IMO if you're not interested in wasting money.

Ok note here, this is a damm strong wheel, and is still uber light.

Rims: 721 32h ceramic $130 each
Hub Rear: Hadley 108pt engagement 32h $599
Hub Front: Hadley 32h $275
Spokes: DT alpine 3 $1.50 each
Nipples: ProLock brass $49 a set

Total: $1279

That is probably the best wheelset ever.

Oh and whats your budget? I can get you a spec to suit your budget.

hey yeah i thinking on spending about half that much! so yeh up to about $600 or so...

yeah dat iz tottalyz swwetz for 4x dude. A halo wheelset or a mag 30 onto a rolholf would be sick for 4x plus you could do some sick drops too.
