You are a champ mate, seriously if half the losers on here new how to use a shovel and tried to dig the world would be a better place, digging is half the fun man. All you wankers bagging him can go and take your prissy little hands and keep using them on your keyboards, god forbid they ever do any hard physical work. To all you people who dont dig, i hate you and hope you crash.

yeah, nobody should be bagged for putting back into the sport by digging trails. If only everyone shared the same motto

i agree with what ruckes is saying, but does any one else find that as soon as you build one jump that flows and works well, they just want to start digging for another one? thats me any way

Its good to see people thinking this way and yeah building the jumps is half the fun it is stating the obvious though but Im glad its being said too many bums abuse others hard work, it comes up all the time though on these forums but it never sinks in for others...

are you serious? a week!? how many hours do u spend actually making the jump.
it honestly takes around 3-4 hours to make a well tuned jump with 2 or 3 ppl helping you.

depends how difficult the dirt is to get sometimes. our jumps with about a line of four and about 10 overall are going to take about a month to dirt up and render

mate we are amped if we can get even something close to a jump in 3 or four hours.......with 2 of us it took roughly 13 hours for one of our landings then about the same for a lip.....then we let them set :o
so yeah once we build a jump it's normally at least a week before we can ride it.
(bring back the days when foot high jumps and 3 foot gaps were considered "huge" )

true true robbie but give them some respect. they might be digging machines making 25 foot doubles:p

Oh ... stpzeroridah must be using what jump builders call the holy grail of dirt.
"CEMENT DIRT"
Once it is put in place it sets like shit to a blanket.
Most of us hacker dirt jump builders use normal soil which consists of much molding and waiting for precious rain. Then and only then if the lips aren't kicked off by little grommits you may have a decent jump complete in about 2-3 weeks (if god is shining upon thee)

I have spent 6 hours so far on my track in my backyard so no little bums destroy it. This includes 2 now complete berms and the 1st foot of dirt on my jump thats bout 75cm wide and 2.5-3m long depending on final build bu its at 3m atm. Its gonna take a while but i rekon 3-4 hours is doable with 3 people

jumping is the best thing you can do on a bike (unless you fall off :( ), so all littel kiddies out there dont roll over the jump at 5km and destroy hours of work. :(
jumping is the best, the feeling you get when your in the air is the best the only way to Know that feeling is to jump :D :D :)

it took me bout n my m8s bout 2 days 2 build a piss weak jump. The thing was however we had to find the dirt, and that can be very hard up here seeing that it is really dry and dusty

The greatest thing you can ever get to build DJs is a mattock or pic ax what ever you want to call it makes gathering ye old dirt so easy their great yet not many people ever mention them. Accelerates dj building so quickly also great for scaring off the little kids who wreck the jumps not the ones who role over them but the ones who climb on them
Dig though the dust dont be lazy :D

you probably should never bother building dirt jumps unless its just rained, or the soil is damp some other way. it just wastes energy and time.

I find the hoe to be the best tool seriously. Tried pick axe and I reckon it kinda sucks compared to the hoe. Sooo good for splitting the soil and you can mix water through which is really good for when it's dry!
Thanks

You do all realise that this was started about peoples opinions on jumping??
I reckon it takes a day or so to build a jump from scratch but if you already have a start it's not long.
Good on the guy who started this subject I like your thinking.
