Do a search for you yangs, it's a good course for all levels and is close to the city.

Edit - damnit, beat me to it.

Mansfield
Nerrina

there are a stack of short chutes along the yarra at fairfield boathouse and along the maribyrnong at avondale heights. just go looking and you will find them.

It's the suburb near you dude (assuming you live in Ivanhoe). It's the end of the train line (take the Hurstbridge line derr!)

try greensborough or eltham, somewhere near there. I used 2 live there and its a bitch to climb They are both extremely hilly and have nice walkn tracks that you could hit. Wouldnt know much more though, it has been bout 4 years since my last time there.

you live in NE melbourne, so yes, it's near where you live. There are a couple of >2min tracks through a pine plantation. Can't remember the street name, but if you are driving along the main road towards Hurstbridge, it's on your right just where the speed limit changes from 80 to 60, just before you get actually into hurstbridge. Follow dirt road up to top (bout 1min drive), and park at the gate. Stands out like dogs nut 'cause all the trees at the entrance are gone now! It's nothing spectacular, but would be a bit of fun for a quick few runs if you're nearby. Turnaround time walking is bout 15min.

Never heard of this track, is it any good & how long is it? & do you have directions or a map of how to get there?

Thanks for any info...

Mt tarrangower is just near Maldon about a easy 2hr drive from melbourne up the calder. i appologise in adavnce for my crappy directions, but ive only been there once and cant remember clearly.

it should be on a good map of the area, but drive through the town and you wil see some signs for the lookout on top of the hill.

there is only 1 road to the top of the hill, but there are a heap of tracks coming off the side of it, just look and you will see. about halfway up on the right is the top of the good track. its was about 3-4 min long and ended in the main picnic area carpark, very similar to you yangs with lots of rocks and similar sandy dirt. the top is fast single track with some nice jumps and the bottom becomes just like the middle of the you yangs.

best bet is to ask some of the local kids as they showed us some awesome tracks.

just get up there and explore and dont be afraid to ask someone.

oh yeah, the nurses in the local hospital know their stuff. i copped a massive dose of pedal chop to the calf (first run for the day, first 300m of track) and i was back out riding withing 45 min. its all better now and has left an awesome scar.

Thanks Action Man, will have to go check it out soon. Normally I just drive straight through Maldon cursing that I have to slow down so much when the streets are soo wide, & usually completely empty.
