View Full Version : My Road, XC and Commuter Bikes!
My Roadie. So many stories to go with this, i cant be bothered listing all the problems. This bike has cost me a small fortune after all the additional parts that ive needed! I stole the stickers off pushi, they are just tempory, filling up space on such a bare frame. This is not an Unscupulous Dealer frame! It comes in at about 9.5kg, but considering its unbelievibly large size (im 6ft5) and the Columbus MAX tubing used, i sure can justify this! Can't wait for Round the Bay in a Day!
Also my XC bike, the ol' Avanti Competitor. :p

Looks fast just sitting there.
So what's missing?

It looks pretty good, but I think you should get some decent wheels to truly match the quality of the frame.

Busted my right dura-ace shifter, had to order new pieces and play lego when it arrives. Also need to get carbon bottle cages, adjust front brake, adjust rear derailleur, RHS griptape and get it blinged up. Ready to roll.
After that, some Truvativ Rolleur Carbon cranks with outboard BB and the Ti Seatpost.

Wheels are temporary. Carbon rim, laced to a American Classic hubs and Ti Spokes. This is a while away though. 1440g wheelset!

American Classic Hubs! For the love of Christ, don't do it man!!!
Maybe instead go for something heavier, that work.

Haha, this is one of the cheapest options i have. Wheel is prebuilt straight from the carbon factory. I'll have a look around and maybe arrange something different, if they are as bad are you put out! I'll have a look through catalogues at work and see whats available. :)

My opinions are based on the MTB hubs. Gave me nothing but problems. I ended up with 2 different internal bodies (totally different).
First and only time I've had a rear hub that freewheels in both directions, at random!
Last time I looked on their page they had a product recall.
They are OK for the Front, but for the rear...
Anyway, just check it out, don't want you cracking your nutz like I did or putting her down in the middle of an intersection (went to crank from stationary only for the hub to totally slip). You'll end up scratching that prudy paint job.

For Sale: American Classic 32 Hole Rear MTB hub, going cheap!

I wanna stop being reminded of how nice your road bike is every time I wanna see what's up in the XC world. :p
Seriously, though - I also own a locally made custom frame (a Hillman Reynolds 853). I love the look of your bike and would be interested in what you paid, if you don't mind. PM if you're shy... :o
Updates, roadie finally finished... just in time for Around the Bay!
Also a need ride to add to the shed, the Avanti Competitor.

Looks ace! Would love to have an xc rig like that, nice work!! :)
On a sidenote, can you believe Steve Peat used to use a SID fork on his jump/huck/stunt bike!?!?
I added my SS commuter also! :D
