View Full Version : Flagstone track - DANGEROUS CHANGE - Careful!

ok so we are running down the flagstone track in tbar this afternoon and havent been there for a while when we line up the chute to roll into the creek gap. its a fast chute that you usually start pedalling before you can see all the way down. lucky i messed up the roll in and went pretty slo because half way down a land owner had carved a road cut away right across it. the result meant that a fast chute ended up being a steep (maybe 5ft drop) huck to flat so a total front wheel smash into the new road.
so i manage to stop 1cm from the edge - just. Kirk doesnt qutie make the stop, hits the back of me and flies over the bars, over me and down (perhaps 2-3m total height) and lands flat on his back and helmet. lucky he was wearing full armor but hes still pretty hurt.
anyway just a warning that the track has changed and theres no real obvious notification so dont smash it at full speed. we noticed afterwards that there is a new workaround but no one has bothered to make it obvious. so perhaps someone local with some red tape or bunting (or even a few logs) could load up the entry to the chute so others dont hurt themselves like one of our guys did today.
cheers.

no, no I can't knock them today, they treated me very well afterwards..... making me run shuttles for the rest of the afternoon, plus for some reason while I was knocked out someone slipped a fiver down my pants.... not sure what that was about..

haha, you lot are a funny bunch. mad shit there seven, nice playing of the trick.
how come you guys didn't mark it out? especially if you were doing shuttles after you foud the fucking thing!
seems incredibly lazy and quite 'dickheadish' to me to just leave such a dangerous thing like that.
i hope that some one doesn't get nailed because of that.

well we didnt have anything to mark it with and surely you dont actually believe that we would have kept running shuttles. we left right after to get nancy boy back to his mommy ;)

Why logs to stop people riding the line? A road gap maybe? I havent seen the track....just wondering.

yeah there would be a pretty sick road gap a little further along but a bit of effort involved . the current line is straight chute to faceplant. no gap potential.

No your right, we are just as bad as anyone else that has knows about it and has left it as such. The only excuse I can offer is that I very very keen to go in search of a horse tranquilliser. Didn't actually keep shuttling, some crap about not driving after concusions...... sounds like a load to me :D
Damn stupid trail, I think I should really give up on it, it's given me broken ribs, a broken collar bone and buggered if I know what going on in my back right now...

oh okay. the way you (seven) said that they kept you bust driving shuttles for the arvo made me think that that's what you did. sorry.
if there weren't and logs or bits of dead tree or some low lying tree branches then i guess you were in a bit of a pickel. hopefuly somene who will be there soon is reading this and wil fix it.
sounds like an amusing afternoon though.

Yeah i live pretty close to this track, But there used to be a huge tree infront of the chute. Someone must have moved it and for the road gap type thing that would take far to much effort to build as a whole heep of dirt would have to be placed on the chute to allow for a kicker to clear the persons road (think it mite be sumones driveway or something :D ) I think it would just be much easier to clean up the little drop of next to it and make it a whole lot bigger.

This track is not a legal track so putting bunting up really does not seem to be the solution. When the track around the obstruction was made the local riders who did so had in fact tried to shut off the top of the track, to which it seems someone has again opened up. Perhaps the obvious solution to the problem is to take it slow on the first run incase of the rare possibility that someone has altered the track. It would be remiss of me not to mention that we now have a legal downhill track in Toowoomba that can be ridden anytime and without fear of major alteration.

"Straight chute to faceplant", ah, there's nuthin' like a freeride track that has everything.
