2006 Morewoods will be landing in Australia next week with frames available through Bike Addiction, Sydney - the 06 lineup sees a few changes, one new frame and one discontinued model. All frames are constructed from the finest 6082 T6 alloy available and are hand built in South Africa by 3 times national DH champ Patrick Morewood. Every Morewood frame comes with seatpost and a Morewood T-shirt (in black, chocolate brown or hot pink!).

Here's the low down thanks to Bling Industries:

Izimu DH:
No geometry changes and sticking with 8.5" travel through a Manitou 6-way (options for a Fox DHX 5.0 may be available soon!).
Completely revised rear end - with an all new 12mm bolt through system, still retaining a CNC'd replacable drive side dropout and 150mm spacing. New, even stiffer and better looking curved CNC'd pivot plates. Significant weight savings have also been made over the already light 2005 frame through these swingarm mods - the 2006 frame will come in around 9.5lbs!!!! A full degree of head angle and inch of BB height adjustment via sliding shock mounts is still retained.
The option of a carbon floating brake mount is still available but at significantly reduced pricing - featuring a full carbon torque arm, this is a trick setup.
PLUS - Now with ISCG mounts (now that those chainguide manufacturers seem to have actually an international STANDARD!)
Two sizes - long and short, both with 16 inch seat tubes.

The 2006 frame has been developed with Morewood's top US boy, Gerrit Baytagh who rode the frame to top 5 finishes in this year's NORBA series.
Check the pics below. Zebra decals are team bike only, sorry folks (well if you ask nicely we'll sort something out!)

Ndiza ST:
Geometry remains unchanged from 2005, the 06 Ndiza ST retains the super short rear end, low BB, and crazy-stiff pivot setup of the 2005 model for domination out of the gates, in the berms and over the doubles. 110mm travel with a Manitou Swinger Air 3-way and 135mm hub spacing. Again available in two lengths with the same low standover height and now with ISCG mounts!
The Ndiza ST is also proving itself to be a worthy short travel trail bike, the low BB and short stays make it an absolute demon in the single track whilst the uninterrupted seat tube allows for full extension on the climbs. You'll see an Ndiza out at the Mont 24hr in two weeks time.

Also, expect to see a full review on Farkin in the next couple of weeks!

Shova ST:
Completely new for 2006, the Shova ST is Morewood's response to calls that its 05 trailbike was a little bit porky! So its out with the old and in with a new leaner trail weapon. The Shova ST features all the features you'd expect from Morewood - aggressive DH inspired geometry, remarkable stiffness and build quality but with a few new features. A totally unique tubeset and rear end with a new lighter downtube and shock mount drop the weight of this 5.3 inch travel beauty to under 7lbs! The pivot location is optimised for mid ring climbing too, with a lower, more central postion. Manitou's exceptional and reliable Swinger Air 3-way handles the movement side of things.

Available in three sizes - 16", 18" and 20" - the Shova ST retains great standover thanks to a curved top tube.

Ridiculously fast freak of nature Dave Inabinet will be giving the Shova ST its premier at the Mont 24hr in Canberra on October 8/9! Expect to see it pass you....very fast.

Rumour has it that Morewood also have a new prototype XC race bike in the pipelind scheduled for release later in 06!

Shova LT:
The big brother of the Shova family gets the same treatment as the Izimu DH - a diet! Again a revised and lighter rear end has dropped some grams from the frame bringing the weight down to just over 8lbs whilst still retaining stiffness thanks to the continued use of Morewood's own Stable Pivot Interface system. Still with a 1.5 inch headtube, the Shova LT is also available with reducer cups for 1 1/8 use. The word out of the US is that there has been a number of Shova LTs making appearances on the NORBA DH circuit for all those who feel that 180mm is enough to tackle the races. Travel comes via a Swinger 4 way with possible Fox DHX 5.0 option available soon!

The Shova LT has both ISCG mounts and front derailleur compatibility with a 135mm hub spacing. Again two lengths, both with a nice low standover courtesy of the 16 inch seat tube.

Ndiza HT:
Unchanged from last year, the 06 Ndiza HT will be available in strictly limited quantities! Beautifully machined dropouts and chainstay yoke, laser cut gusssets, super stiff box section down-tube......it is a 4X and dirt jump frame to die for. Now with ISCG mounts and revised graphics, the Ndiza ST is perfect for all those who want to rip it up in the bowl, berms and trails but don't want to feel like they are riding a kids bike - this is a mountain bikers bike, not some BMX with big wheels. The Ndiza HT comes in at only 5lbs too whilst losing nothing to the strength of heavy cromo frames thanks to the use of 6082 T6 alloy.

All frames are available as Frame/Fork combos too:
Izimu DH/Manitou Travis.
Ndiza ST/Manitou Nixon.
Shova LT/Manitou Sherman Breakout.
Shova ST/Manitou Nixon Platinum.
Ndiza HT/Manitou Nixon or Stance.

I have checked out Kitoff's DH rig and 4x Weapon and they are both as sweet as a butter-honeyed, hot, 18 year old virgin girl (pretty sweet). Looking forward to seeing more from morewood.

I saw the Morewood's too - they are pretty special ... and I think you've probably got a better chance with the Morewood ... :D :D :D
